Best salad I've ever had. The lettuce was so fresh and delicious. This salad was lightly dressed with a garlic, oil, and parietal. So simple and elegant, truly a delight. I also had sourdough bread with pimento cheese butter (yep) and the butternut squash soup. My husband had the chicken fried chicken, and there wasn't a crumb left on his plate. The servers were lovely and the atmosphere was relaxed. This restaurant was a really unexpected treat.

Just went again last night to celebrate my 50th Birthday and Gin was our server. She was sweet, kind, patient and such a hard worker even though it was so very busy. The night was perfect! On the porch, delicious food, outstanding service and chess pie to finish off my birthday celebration. Thank you Gin!

Over Yonder is located in a historic house. It is beautiful. The floor plan has not been altered a lot so tables are in lots of separate rooms. This is great because it is not very noisy since lots of walls to break up the sound. Lots of interesting and unique dishes on the menu. We started with the homemade pimiento .cheese. YUM! I had the shrimp and grits and my husband had the fungi bowl. They were both delicious. I enjoyed the ginger mint iced tea, unsweetened. We had the chocolate chess pie for dessert. We plan to be back again the next time we visit this area because we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. Clean restrooms and plenty of parking. We sat inside but you can also try the big wrap around porch.

I recently visited Over Yonder Restaurant and was thoroughly impressed! I started with the Jump in the Line cocktail, and it was so delightful that I couldn’t resist having a second one. The tropical flavors were refreshing and paired perfectly with my meal.
The crispy okra is a must try. It is incredible and might even be healthy. They flash fry okra till it's crispy and caramelized and serve it with a remoulade sauce. If you're a veggie lover, you can't go wrong. And it heats up nicely later in an air fryer if you find you've ordered too much food.
For my main course, I opted for the vegan Fungi Bowl, a delicious option that seems to be a recent addition as some online menus may be outdated. The dish was flavorful and versatile, especially when enhanced with the various hot sauces our amazing waitress brought to the table. I particularly loved the Caribbean-inspired hot sauce, which complemented the tropical notes of my drink beautifully. The restaurant offers a range of hot sauces inspired by different cuisines, including Mexican mole, Caribbean, and Asian styles, each adding a unique twist to the meal.
The ambiance at Over Yonder is just as remarkable as the food. I adored the rustic charm of the chipping paint, which gave it a cozy, country feel. With plants on every table, the setting felt warm and welcoming. I chose to sit outside, taking advantage of the beautiful weather, and the view didn’t disappoint—right across the street is the original Mast General Store, a spot rich in history and perfect for some shopping after a meal.
Overall, I highly recommend visiting Over Yonder and pairing it with a trip to the Mast General Store for a truly delightful experience. Both spots offer a unique taste of local charm and history that shouldn’t be missed!
9.1.24. Wow! Went here to get away from the crowds at other restaurants and found a gem! This restaurant is in a home built in 1861 and has the BEST food!! I had the quiche which was amazing! Had the sourdough appetizer with black garlic butter and that paired so well! The absolute best part of dinner was dessert! Peach cobbler out of this world! The food is all cooked on sight and the staff/atmosphere of the home truly a delight! Was busy and still got seated within 15 minutes. Once seated, the food was on the table within 7 to 10 minutes! Absolutely would come here again! Our waiter Ethan was great!

Not what you would usually expect to find out in the hills in this area. Cool old farmhouse with a lot of personality. Help was great and the menu had a lot of interesting options. Worth the drive for the experience. Very close to Valle Crucis Community Park and the Mast stores. Make a day of it!
