We used to love this place. Granted we haven’t been in 5years, but it had always been our favorite on the island. I wish I had checked the reviews first. They aren’t wrong, the food was super bland. Even additional salt couldn’t fix it. Services was good, though hard not to be when there are only 2 tables of people. I hope they turn it around, was sad to see how bad it has gotten.

I have been going to this restaurant for many years and have had great experiences. The past three times we have been disappointed. Even after telling the bartender / server in detail during conversation about out last 2 experiences not enjoyable nothing changed. I hope they can get back on track. It was a Friday night and it was empty. Great location

I am sad to report that this restaurant is no longer what it used to be. I would not recommend to anyone hoping for an upscale experience. Upon arriving we realized how dirty the floor, windows and glasses were and we had multiple flies circling our heads the whole entire dinner. The chicken on our salad was so bad we both spit it out and had to send it back, it was cold, rubbery and not fresh. Don't get me started on the bathroom, it was disgusting. Truly sad, as I used to frequent this restaurant for years in the early 2000's. We left hungry and so disappointed. I think it's either time to close the doors or reconsider the whole operation and deep clean the place and train the chef how to cook. Our waitress was a doll, I will say that, so sweet!

Disappointed tonight. 3 of us dining, all had to send dinners back. Two salmon dishes & a pork chop dinner. All terribly undercooked. Fish under seasoned. Spinach awfully salty. Risotto undercooked. Under staffed. Our waitress was sweet and very attentive. Sad, hoping they work through this. It’s been a couple of years since we were there. Certainly won’t rush back.

If I could do a review with 0 stars I would. Every year we come to Topsail, we decide to try this place again. I do not know why I bother, but this was the absolute last time. It is no wonder it’s never busy. The food was absolutely horrible. No flavor at all! None. Not a bit of seasoning. You have to pay for bread or a salad. They change chefs constantly. And the drinks are terrible. They need a new bartender and another new chef.
I’m beginning to think there’s a management issue here. And I’ll add that the same dilapidated table and chair that sits right by the entrance has been there for AT LEAST 10 years and it’s falling apart. I could go on but you get the point.
The ONLY redeeming thing about this visit tonight was our waiter. He was a sweetheart.

For the prices charged I thought the tables would have a tablecloth & candle. Didn’t look like fine dining. Our waiter was not too friendly or accommodating. Waited over an hour for our meal. Arrived at 6:30 and never ate till 8:30. Had to ask for salt & pepper & butter. Food was not hot. I would not recommend this place.

I watched a blonde boy by the name of jack walk into the restaurant with a roaring smile he mischievously walked to the bathroom and I started to hear sounds of war and a stench that could kill a horse.

We have visited Beauchaines multiple times over the past 23 years, but the recent negative reviews made us hesitate to take our large party there last night. However, I'm glad we did! Service, drinks, and food were excellent as always. Our party had crab dip, bread, and Brussels sprouts for apps, wedge salad, filet mignon, crab cakes, salmon, Patrice's pasta with shrimp and scallops, shrimp and grits, kids' fried shrimp, cocktails and wine, and both desserts that were on the menu. Everything was delicious, and our servers were friendly and attentive despite being short-staffed. Beauchaines is not the only good restaurant on the island at that price point, but it has been a consistently solid choice for us for the past two decades. Plus, they are one of the only good restaurants on the island that actually takes reservations, which is a huge plus.

I’ll preface this to say I usually don’t say anything about restaurants, but I’ll join the chorus of new reviews that say the kitchen is absolute amateur hour. I don’t know of a nicer way to say this, but I sincerely hope this place makes changes and survives because other than the food, it’s great. The restaurant is beautiful, the staff was mostly great, other than some young ones that probably knew what was going down and were sad. What can you expect from staff faking it when the food is obviously amateur at a higher price point? (I know I know it’s not that high nowadays)
The oyster appetizer was ok, and seemed to be cooked by the only guy who knew what he was doing. Everything else was not cooked with any sort of skill resembling “fine dining”. The most egregious thing was pasta cooked in unsalted water in a pasta special with hardly any other ingredients on it, but I could rattle off 20 other things wrong (unseasoned grits maybe instant?, no sear on sautéed shrimp on said grits that are listed at the top of the menu, different temps on plate between cold potatoes and protein etc…) .
I hope someone else mentioned this to you guys already, but I didn’t want to be the local that didn’t speak up and saw a beautiful restaurant close because they thought everything was fine.

Yuk. There are better options on the island. Not to mention better people.

Came here for an anniversary dinner and that came with disappointment during a time of celebration, I ordered a steak medium rare and was given a burnt burger patty or that it seemed. I was starving so of course I still ate it. The asparagus was raw and the rolls were straight out of the food lion bread isle down the street. The servers were amazing and the service was great but food was so sad and was a waste of my $100.00.

pictures online are fake. came here for my anniversary with a large group we were served microwave grade food that was extremely overpriced. Members of our party that payed 10-12 dollars extra were given 3-4 pieces. Older women working here are very nice but the teenagers were terrible. There were multiple times we were served drinks with no ice.

The owner encourages throwing bricks and rocks at citizens exercising their First Amendment Rights to Assemble. Would never spend a dime here.
