This waterfront restaurant has seating inside and outside. The outside seating has a nice view of the water. We appreciated being able to bring our dog to sit quietly at our feet at our table outside. We started with the Bam Bam Shrimp. It was a very large portion of large shrimp in a nice sauce. For our meals we ordered grilled and broiled seafood. The scallops and flouder were large portions and fresh and delicious. The cole slaw and fries were good, too. Server was attentive.

Had dinner with friends at JM's for the first time. The food was delicious. Ashley G. Made some great drinks to include a Coconut Mojito's. The best I have ever had. She provided five star service at our table as well. Thank You Ashley G

Strictly average food. The baked potatoes were good as was the fried shrimp, but the oyster plater was grossly overpriced for small non plump fried oysters. Loud customers in the dining room didn't add to the experience, better to have eaten on the porch which has a nice view.

Recently visited for the first time. We went around 3:30-4pm and it wasn't busy. We had carry-out orders for 5 people, so we sat at the bar, and had a drink while we waited on the food. View was awesome, as well as the service. Food was ready in a timely manner, and we took it back to the house and ate immediately. Flounder was very good, as was the crab cakes. Other got scallops and were very satisfied, and the blackened grouper sandwich, got great reviews!! I would certainly recommend giving this place a try!!

A GREAT dive bar with a GREAT bartender -- she was fun, funny, attentive and quite nice. Seemed to be a good crowd of locals who were all very nice. Great selection of drinks. Looks like they've got regular events including live music and they also have food trucks that, from the description, sounded tasty. If you like dive bars --- check this place out for sure!

Terrible food. The shrimp was cooked in old fishy grease. Coleslaw was not edible. The oysters were improperly cooked. Will never go back and will warn my friends and family to not waste their money. Very expensive. Dropped 400.00 dollars, this is what major regret feels like. Oh, and we bought 1 beer and 2 small cocktails.

We eat here every year we visit Topsail. My family really likes the food. We have sat both inside and outside. The view is beautiful from outside, Highly recommended the hot crab dip appetizer. Definitely pay the $2 up charge for extra pita bread. Good selection of food for all.

Horrible customer service! We arrived about 11:30 on a Sunday morning and asked to sit outside by the water. We were seated at a small table by the wall on the deck. There were two 4-topss next to the water. We asked if we could sit at one of those tables instead. The hostess said no because they were for parties of 4 and they were going to get busy. We said ok. Next thing you know, two individual couples were each being seated at those 4-top tables. We said "excuse me, we asked to sit there and you told us they were for parties of 4." She said yes, but they asked to sit by the water. Well EXCUSE ME!!!! WE DID TOO!!! This was not acceptable and we did not want to spend our hard-earned money at this restaurant that thought so little of their customers. We got up to leave and asked for a manager. The manager did little to provide us with any customer service or caring. Needless to say, we will never go back.

He Said She Said ..

He Said: There is not a visit to Topsail/Surf City that doesn't include us coming to the bar-side at least once. If we're close enough we come pretty much every day. We cannot resist an industry/locals bar and this one is the very definition. No beer taps here, but a wide selection of locals, not-as-locals, and macros are in the fridges. They have rail, next shelf, and some upper shelf liquor. Dog-friendly with two pool tables, two dart lanes (the kind like an arcade game, not British pub-style), and a few TVs. If you love this kind of bar, you love JM's. She Said: This bar is a classic, and if you're the type who enjoys people-watching with your drink, then there's plenty of that if the TVs aren't showing something to your liking. The owner is a really nice guy, and I'm happy to support him and his equally great bartenders whenever we're in town. Mixed drinks and wine are also on offer, but there's no food (though occasionally a food truck) so plan accordingly and bring your own if you will be needing a snack. Potty Points: 2/5 - The potties serve their purpose and are set up so that no one will linger of their own accord, which is just fine!

This place was all everyone was talking about, I had never been there, my cousin talked me into going. I am glad I did, I grew up with my Parents going to a lot of seafood restaurants in the Sanford, Southern Pines, Mt Gilead area, this was a good place to go. The crabcakes are huge and great, I had a platter with Flounder, not watery like the other restaurants, I like the outside crunchy. Shrimp were huge and tasteful great to eat. The baked potato was the bomb, it was loaded big and very good, I also had fried mushrooms, great my cousin said they had a lot of water in them, when they are fried that comes out into the inside of the battered mushroom, wonderful taste, The only thing they didn't have was hushpuppies, don't know why that would have made the place excellent. IT was pricy a little, 34.95 3 seafood platter, 14.95 for fried mushrooms, it was all good for 50.51 well spent a good choice in Surf City and well worth the cost, most all of the patrons go there all the time and it it hard to get in during the season as I have heard. We went I think on a weeknight, Thursday I think
