Excellent southern food with a special flair. I had fantastic fried chicken breast, collard greens and boursin mashed potatoes. Everything was prepared perfectly, seasoned well and served graciously. The building is old and quaint but clean. 5 star all the way and the prices were reasonable.

Great food; the pork ribeye is the best I've ever had.4 stars for food.2 stars for service.Service is not wonderful, and we wish more care and training would go into the service, which does impact whether we decide to eat out there or not.Fun piano playing and good pub atmosphere overall.

We were seated in a very timely manner. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. We ordered the salmon and fish n chips. Our food was so well prepared and absolutely delicious. Salmon and fish perfect. Cole slaw was so creamy and tasteful. We love this little town and the food and atmosphere!!

Always a great meal at Harper. The fried chicken is excellent! The burgers are also really great. Pork chop is stellar. Fair prices on beer and drinks. Nice atmosphere. I always recommend it when people come to Tryon.

The food is excellent!The service is excellent!The general atmosphere here is good but is affected by the "entertainment" provided.We went here New Years Eve 2022 for dinner and really enjoyed ourselves --- with the exception of the dude on the piano.He was banging on that puppy like he was in a Spaghetti Western and he was the saloon entertainment! I promise you --- we were expecting a lively rendition of "She'll be comin' 'round the Mountain" to come out before the evenings end.Unfortunately, I cannot throw him under the bus without spreading blame to his friends in our section who seemed "hell-bent" on affirming his play.We were 15 feet away and could hardly hold a conversation at our table. Even the wait-person struggled to communicate with us while taking the order and delivering the order.My thinking of atmospheric dinner piano music is Diana Krall, Bob James or David Benoit --- and not "Clem from Carver City".Music (at meals) needs to be subtle and unobtrusive.In our previous visit, there was an acoustic guitarist who did exactly that. He was subtle. He was amazing, and he was greatly appreciated.Piano man was loud and obnoxious.Again, food and service are top notch here. Don't ruin it with your choice of musicians.In this area --- less is more.

Do yourself a favor & avoid tonight. Service terrible. Eye rolls as walking away from our server and the manager. Everyone's meals was screwed up. My appetizer came out after main meal. A good server or manager would have at least been able to placate, they didn't even try. Always been good before. Will be a long while before I try again.

The restaurant was very noisy at first, but not busy & became even less busy for a Saturday night. The service was awful, we ordered the pimento cheese appetizer which took ages to come out, though we kept asking for it & then it only came out with our entrees which also took about 45 minutes to get served. We told the waitress to take it back by then. I ordered the pork belly & french fries both were cold, uneatable, my husband likes his steak overdone but this was also cold & tasteless, there were eight of us in our party & none of us were happy with our food or service. Our waitress was rude. The manageress made excuses about there being only one chef, the waitress had told us there were two. However as we pointed out to her it was hardly busy in the restaurant, to warrant such a wait & cold food. This was my second time at the restaurant & it will be my last. Do not waste your money or evening. They had the cheek to charge us gratuity for bad food & service.

The service here is amazing, I have been here twice and never had to wait over 5 minutes for a table! I normally got fried chicken and their delicious macaroni. The place itself is very nice, comforting in a sense. The bathrooms are nice, spacious, and updated. The restaurant is located on a side street from the main street in Tryon. It's located right beside a lovely little ice cream shop that I also recommend. Overall a 9.5/10! Recommend and will come again!

I’ve been here a few times and the food, staff, and atmosphere is amazing. Sarah has been my server the past few times I’ve been there, and she’s been incredibly kind and accommodating. 10/10 I’ll definitely be back.
Took us 50 minutes to get a drink!! Then another 45 minutes to get our food. We were not happy. Good thing is the food was good, and the management apologized for the incredibly slow service. We were ready to walk out when the food finally came.

Normally great food and good service, tonight not the case, I came alone but usually with the mrs. Went straight to the bar and both bar maid/waitress walked by me twice. After about 10-12 min I went to the hostess stand then the same girl who ignored me then asked if I needed anything. I spoke to the host possibly mgr who said we’re busy and I didn’t seat you. I told him I wouldn’t eat there tonight but would be back with the mrs and he said sorry but we’re busy and they are a good crew. My response was all they had to say was be right with you, he again made excuses and I responded obviously your not the one to care. Look no need for excuses just I’m so sorry, please have a seat and offer of comp tea/ soda or beer or not, just a look of I give a !$&@. We’re fairly regular customers and had a great conversation with the owners dad last time there. Cheers!

The staff and food was beyond great. I ordered the fried chicken after a local recommended it. She was right. So tender and good. My wife irdered the shrimp and grits and it may've been the best we've ever had. Definitely a 5 star experience. We will be back!
