Shorty's Famous Hot Dogs

stopped in here for the first time, ordered two dogs, and they were both wrong.

Service was good. Food fast and cook to order! Team is very friendly too!

I visited yesterday and really have to say the owner needs a revamp on professional standards and customer service his employees display as well as possible price adjustments if he wants to move forward with a successful business where people are proud to invest and contribute their money and time in.
Upon walking in I wasn’t greeted the cashier Connie was on Facebook and talking to her two other co workers about gossip and other things about other people. When I decided what to order ( two hot dogs and a small fry with a medium lemonade ) this was about 14.85 I really was blown away by this but it makes sense later.
The fries were old and already made and as were the hotdogs they immediately put it together and I had to ask if it was mine because they were too busy talking to give it to me. Connie made my drink and set it on the counter down the line never advising me or acknowledging that it was mine. I assumed and took it the 3 employees went right back to talking about whatever gossip seemed enticing. On the other side the manager was sitting down on his phone as well complaining about severe back pain while the 4th employee was cleaning.
So we have 5 employees on the clock 1 working. Which tells me why I’m paying almost 15 dollars for 2 hotdogs. I’m paying for him to keep workers who are not working on the payroll. As I watched all employees kept touching their phones and the food with no hand washing in between. Connie talking junk about people the entire time rolling her eyes and making negative and disparaging comments about people they may know outside of work.
While I was there only one man came in they briefly took an order and apparently he wasn’t given his drink Connie tossed it on the counter didn’t say a word.
For 15.00 for a single person’s lunch I would expect at least MINIMAL customer service as well as politeness and I would expect fresh fries. I don’t want to hear disparaging comments and gossip for 30 minutes or see the owner about to fall out due to not being able to physically work.
Maybe cut the staff In half especially since they are not working at all and possibly create more competitive prices as well as better health care for the owner.
This is just my opinion of course I know this business has been here for a long time but as a consumer this was not a good look or experience and we won’t be back. Connie you need a much better attitude and a much kinder demeanor if you’re working with people. If you guys want to pour your finances into a business who has high moral hard work and value this wouldn’t be it.

SImply put: it is a Wake Forest staple. Come for the dogs ATW. Stay for the fresh baked items for dessert. Sit in the back room to feel like you are a part of the OG Mafia in town. It's legendary!

Shorty's is amazing!! From the food to the atmosphere it doesn't matter what you order off the menu you won't be disappointed. The old school feel inside is something you won't find anywhere else.

Came at lunch. Food came quickly. Drink machine had no CO2. I asked them to fix it. After 10-15 minutes and having eaten my lunch, I checked with the counter. 5 people appeared to be working and 3 of them were looking at their cells phones. One finally mumbled it was fixed. I went to get a drink and it still had zero fix for the sodas. For what you pay the service was not good and no one seemed to care.

Not a food review because I never got to taste it. They closed at 3pm and shut/ locked the door in our face a 2:58. Upsetting because that’s the only reason we came to downtown Wake Forest that day

Great hotdogs! got mine with chili, Mustard, onions, and slaw and topped it with texas Pete at the table. Chili and slaw MAKE the hotdog. Fries were hot and cooked to order. Clean restaurant and excellent service.

Been going here for over 30 years, today I had the worst experience ever food was way over priced and cold drink machine was not working got a dirty look when I requested a bottled drink the I complained the manager in the purple shirt came outside and told me not to come back. She needs to be fired! 8/30/24

Extremely unwelcoming! I wasn’t greeted at all, not even a “hello” or “what can I get for you today”. The older guy that took my order straight up just grabbed a note pad and stared at me. I mean WOW!! If I can give the food zero stars I would, just look at the picture it clearly speaks for itself. Needless to say I will never be coming back to the not so famous “Shortys”.

Very Unwelcoming Atmosphere, No Greeting or anything barely wanted to take our order. All that for just a regular hot dog . Definitely won’t be back.

Im 69 yrs old and still go I ng hot dogs we use to go my mother had 11 kids a singke mom and we went on Fridays and its a plant at the window thats still there love the the first to the third genalrachion
