Saturday night, we waited some time for our salad which ended up being huge bits of cheap iceberg lettuce which I don't eat. I opted for the Chicken Oscar ($30) which was served luke warm and the chicken was very thin and overcooked, sweet potato obviously heated up, asparagus was very tired. We had travelled from Raleigh for this and were very disappointed. The restaurant really was very overpriced and disappointing.

The best part was the wine tasting. The gentleman that was doing the wine tasting was funny and very knowledgeable about the wine. After that we went down to a were we were lead with a dinning room full of people. I ordered the salmon dinner and my husband ordered broiled flounder. The flounder was 28 dollars and it wasn’t broiled it was like it had been pre cooked and the texture was rubbery the salmon was the the fishiest salmon I had ever tasted and very over cooked. The cost of it was 32 dollars. I was so shocked these dishes of meat were very low quality standard for a restaurant that is supposed to be very nice. I wish I could say it ended there but t I went to use the ladies room before we left and I get that the place is old but the bathroom smelled like urine You know when you go to a gas station bathroom and you know the bathroom doesn’t really get cleaned very well and it smells in strong urine. This is what this bathroom was like. It needs a good cleaning it just made the evening worse other than the wine the date with my husband was a bust

My family has been going to the country squire for many many years - we love the Caesar salad made at the table. Over the years there have been one or two times we felt it was not quite up to par but never off enough to stop us from going back. But the past year we had 2 incidents that have changed our opinion - first was when we stopped in around 8pm one night coming back home from our trip and we asked for the Caesar salad for 2 made at the table and were brought just 2 salads from the back but charged 18.99 which is the charge for making it fresh. When we asked about it we were told it was made fresh in the back and it was the same price regardless. It wasn’t as good as what we normally get but it was getting late and we were hungry so paid it and debated if we would go back. Fast forward to 6 months and we go back with my brother and SIL (August 27,2025) and had reservations for 630p so we were seated promptly and soon our order was taken. There were only 4 other tables of customers in our area but it was after 8pm before we got our steaks, The food was good but the service was slow. I can live with that but what has now made me determined not to go back - we paid with our debit card and I have my copy of the bill - I know what I left for tip but when I checked my account on Friday, an additional 10.00 had been added to my bill. I can only assume someone wrote over my amount to give themselves an extra 10.00. Fortunately my brother paid with cash so he didn’t have this experience. 10.00 will not break me but it is the principal - I leave tips based on service. Don’t think we will be going back, and I suggest checking your account afterwards or pay with cash.

9/2/25 UPDATE: I contacted Countey Squire by email regarding my previous experience with the additional tip charge.
They did apologize and assured me it was a entry mistake and my money was refunded. She did say the owner was very hands on but is currently on vacation and asked if it would be okay if she called me upon her return and I said yes. I will update once I talk to her.

Food and wine were fantastic! We enjoyed steak, onion rings, pasta, and of course had to top it off with hot fudge brownie a la mode for dessert!

Have been going there for 20 plus years. Food is not what it used to be. Had a 12oz. Rib eye steak had tasted terrible. Cook in the oven instead of grilled. No fat marble in it and tough to eat. Was extremely thick just no seasoning or marinated to make it tender. Appetizer seafood mushrooms came of food truck like most restaurants and were not good either. No croutons for salads. Foodlion is right down the road. After over twenty years I'll miss it.

The iconic Country Squire. We haved dined hundreds of times & ALWAYS a great experience. The prime rib was rich, beefy flavored, with a generous marbling - as it should be. Desert is always the Squires Delight. Miss Iris & Team are the true heart of the Squire. Thanks y'all! 😋

I had a wonderful time celebrating my birthday at the Country Squire. The setting is very charming with apples and vintage decor. The staff was friendly and very attentive to detail. The food was excellent. I had the Prime Angus Ribeye with a house salad and garlic mashed potatoes. I also had a glass of wine. Granddaddy's Smokehouse White. It was a great combination of fruity and sweet. It was also made onsite. Thank you to the staff it was a wonderful experience.

Really cool place that reminds me of my childhood of growing up in a slow town. It's nice to see places like this still exist now that I live in a big city. Great wine as well. Bought a case to bring back to miami with me.

Neat little place to enjoy a meal. I stopped by with my family on a Sunday afternoon, and were seated immediately. I had the marinated turkey and it was really good. We spoke with the owner, Iris, who was lovely, too!

Definitely stop by this place to enjoy good food and an experience.

My wife and I went for lunch April 6th kilted for National Tartan Day. The food was excellent. We met the owner and hopefully we can schedule a tartan event there next year. In the mean time we will be coming back, kilted of course. We love celebrating our Scottish heritage anytime we can. Tìoraidh an-dràsta, slàinte mhath!

Tried this place for Valentine’s Day. Had a 7:30 reservation but seated after 8. Waitress didn’t come to table except to take order, deliver the food and then came over after we had been waiting forever to get butter for our then cold baked potatoes. Never did get our salad. After she came over the final time we just asked for check. Pointed out that we never got butter or salads. Another lady came over and offered to take $10 off of our $98 bill. The issues were then pointed out to the ladies at the front, their reasoning was that it was a busy night of serving 500 people. And she also said that maybe we shouldn’t have tried it out for the first time on Valentine’s Day. Was absolutely the worst experience ever, the appetizer wasn’t good, my steak was well done when it was supposed to be medium, no toppings for the then cold baked potatoes and never received the salads. Musty, stale smell inside the building as well. Definitely won’t be back.

New to the area; we stopped by on a Wednesday night for dinner. Rod delighted us with a free wine tasting and it is so refreshing to find a local winery that makes wine from other than muscadine grapes. Found a few great wines to take home with us! The restaurant decor is charming. Loved the small table; it felt intimate for the two of us and the candle light furthered that mood. Service was friendly and quick. Nice selection of dinner choices to select from. I had seafood and my husband had steak. Both entrees were delicious! Loved the whole experience and can’t wait to go back.
