Whispering Q is no longer there. They are changing over to something different from BBQ.
Good food overall but very limited menu, perhaps due to the fact that we went at lunch. I've never been to a BBQ place that only had Carolina BBQ and baby back ribs as BBQ options. Perhaps they could offer some smoked sausage, turkey, and or brisket? We had the burger and the baby back ribs with macaroni and cheese and fries as sides. Both were very good, I think the ribs were the best dish overall. The ribs were fall-off-the bone good, with a great taste; however, one tip I do have for the chef is to go easier on the seasoning. The saltiness of the seasoning interfered with the taste of the ribs and even provided a little burnt-mouth effect. The ambiance is interesting in this place -- set in an old school gold-oriented country-club atmosphere, the restaurant itself comes across as more of a country BBQ joint. It's an interesting dichotomy. Be advised that this location does charge 2.5% extra for credit cards (basically what the card company charges them), but this appears to be only posted at the bar and not on the menu or the entrance to the restaurant. Also, the staff won't advise you about this policy, they will simply run your credit card. I think that's important to point out.
Such a cool spot for people in the heart of whispering pines! Spacious restaurant, well stocked bar, huge back patio overlooking thagards lake! Delicious food and good prices!
It’s a nice quiet place to eat, or pick up take out food. The wait staff are above nice and accommodating and I can tell you that I have never, never had anything from that kitchen since Justin has been there, that I have disliked. If they paid me more I would eat here everyday! Great food ,great people, great service! Good luck to you all in the future.
Had to update review ... completely changed their menu, and almost doubled prices. Probably won't eat here anymore now.
Just may be the best burgers in the Sandhills. Also recommend the Trio Sliders. Staff are super friendly and attentive. Oh and the wings are smoked too - awesome! We came two days in a row we liked it so much.
Great food! Staff is friendly with good service. Atmosphere needs some TVs to get football crowd we could pack this place!
Love this restaurant! We eat here twice a week and it never gets old! The food is spot on, the best in the area and great prices and portions. Never had anything we didn't like. The waitresses are all friendly and attenative. We highly recommend The Whispering Q Restaurant, give it a try and we think you will too!
Wow the employees are so welcoming and nice, the food is so delicious and serve with a smile. Your stay will be memorable!
We thoroughly enjoyed the meal. We had the sliders with a 1/2 rack of ribs, fries and slaw for sides. All of it was very tasty.

The BBQ -ribs and coleslaw (not too vinegary or sweet, more NY stlyle) are great. That said, the restaurant is located at the Whispering Pines Golf Club, is open to the public and just opened. The staff is nice but discombobulated. We ordered two hrs in advance for pickup and got there on time -order not ready and others that came after - walk ins that placed orders for take out got their food first. Approx 30 min after arrival we got our takeout. It is also pricey but everything has gone up - one full rack ribs, small coleslaw and sweet potato fries around $38. Will wait a while for a return visit for them to iron out some issues.
The staff was so nice to me and my daughter. Food was amazing - better than expected. Atmosphere for a BBQ joint inside a golf club isn't the easiest thing to pull off, but they did great there too. Harvest salad, bbq sandwich, the burger, Mac and cheese and Apple pie were all on point.
The course is poorly maintained.
We played the river course 10/17. We had booked a package through Legacy golf package. Upon checking in with the pro shop we were made aware of the wet conditions but not a single word of the condition of the greens. The green on the first hole was sanded and had some bare spots. Bad but not horrible. They never got better.. every single green was covered with sand and bare spots, newly seeded areas and unmowed. If we would have been advised of these conditions before teeing off we at least could have had the option not to play the course and go elsewhere. We were not given that opportunity. Needless to say we will not be returning to WP again. Upon notifying the gentleman at Legacy golf links pro shop on 10/18 before teeing off there, he stated that they were unaware of the conditions at WP and had they known before they would have booked a different course for us.
good price challenging layout
