First time trying this restaurant. Drove an hour to try it. Took over an hour to be seated. Once we got seated there were open tables all around us. The appetizer came before the drinks, we waited at least 20 minutes for our drinks. Received 1 refill the entire time we were there. Wife received the wrong order. Ordered a kids chicken tender for a 5 year old and it was so spicy the adults couldn’t eat it. After paying at the booth the lady practically threw the pen at me to sign the receipt. I guess it was too much effort to reach across the narrow countertop. All my friends hyped this place up saying they used to go years back and that it was a great place. I will say that I will not be returning.

Deadwood in Bear Grass, NC is truly a hidden gem in Martin County. If you’re not local, you might drive right past it and never know what’s tucked away there. I remember hearing about it years ago but had never visited. A friend hosted an event there a couple of years ago, and I was amazed at how beautifully it was decorated—this was right after Christmas, and the holiday décor was still up and absolutely stunning.

When I returned again recently, I noticed even more details that make this place special. From the outside, it leaves you curious, but once you cross the little wooden bridge, it opens into a space that really leaves you in awe. There’s a train you can ride, charming outdoor seating areas, lights and decorations throughout, and a peaceful little pond that adds to the atmosphere. There’s also a cozy coffee bar and meeting space that’s perfect for brunch or small gatherings, along with the main restaurant that can accommodate groups of all sizes.

The salad bar is excellent with plenty of fresh options to choose from, and the food has been consistently delicious. The brisket and baked chicken are finger-licking good! This was actually my first time getting the brisket because it tends to sell out quickly—and now I understand why. Everything I’ve tried here has been great so far.

The wait staff are friendly, and the hostess at checkout is especially sweet. She keeps little candies at the front and encourages guests to grab a handful on their way out, which is such a simple but thoughtful touch.

It was a bit cool inside during my visit, but the fireplace adds a nice cozy feel. Overall, every experience I’ve had here has been pleasant, and I’ll definitely be back again. This is one of those special places you almost want to keep a secret—but it’s too good not to share.

I grew up going to Deadwood with my family nearly everytime we visited my grandmother in Bear Grass. Every time we went it felt like there was something new to do from putt putt, riding the train, arcade games, playground, and even a roller coaster. The food is always fantastic and there is a great salad bar option. I highly recommend going to Deadwood and look forward to my next visit!

Spent two weekends in a row here for My Hubby's birthday and the next Sunday for mine. The food was good , affordable and lots of choices. I had the Tomahawk 22 Oz. It was good. The salad bar is always fresh 😋

The food was excellent. Love the mashed potato with gravy. Extremely creamy and filling. This place certainly knows how to do their meat. The only thing I was disappointed was that sometimes the brisket entree gets sold out.

After looking up restaurants for our drive down from VA to Crystal Coast Nc we came across this restaurant. We were stunned to see this quirky place that has a theme restaurant and on top of that a 4.6 rating with nearly
1 300 reviews. I have to say.. reviews were correct.

For a Saturday at 1pm the place was very busy but we were seated quickly and received our beverages. The server was very helpful with suggestions because of our food restrictions. However, we decided to order 4 appetizers and the were fresh and served hot. Also, the staff worked as a team not just the server. Clearing the plates and bringing additional beverages were great.

Parking was tight but they were busy... and the cool quirky atmosphere was beyond great. This place was full of children adventuring around. We will be making this a stop in the future. Great job team!

Definitely not what I thought it was. We just thought it was a restaurant. Surprise to us there's all kinds of things going on, even a train ride for the kids.

We went to Deadwood in Beargrass, NC as a church group from our Joy Fellowship at Aulander Baptist Church. I ordered a 1/2 rack of ribs and I swear it looked like half a pig was on my tray. It had to have been at least 6-7 inches thick and probably 8 -9 inches long. I was looking for the ribs to be the size of the one's you see in th grocery stores and to top it off it was only $20.99 with 2 sides. Unfricking believable. Thank you for the great time and delicious food. Im planning to go back again.
