Sunny Side is the GOAT when it comes to oysters! We always go for my birthday! They're fresh and they shuck them for you right at the table! We've never not had an amazing experience when we've gone! If you're going with a group, I recommend getting a variety of everything and sharing. And, if you're up for some spice, I highly recommend requesting a Rooster! Your tummy will be happy, and your sinuses will be cleared! Expect to hang out at the bar and wait, because the layout is a little different. And I'd recommend getting there early!
[Note: If the month doesn't have an R in it, they're not open]

Closed for the season on may 12. Not reflected on their website. 60 mile futile drive.

Gave 1 because O wasn't possible. Horrendous Customer Service. Sat an hour, and one of the 3 groups ahead of us got seated. NO ONE EVER UPDATED US ON THE TIME FRAME! Cannot speak to the quality of the food, because we weren't willing to wait three hours to eat. NO ONE'S FOOD IS THAT GOOD. Only side is broccoli and Cheese. WHO LIKES THAT??? If you want to enjoy a meal with your family, DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME! From what I saw, this is a place for drunks to sit around and drink and eat.

This is a very cool and unique place! They do a thing and the menu options are very limited. But what they serve and how they serve it is awesome! Apparently, they’ve gotten some shine over the years so you can look it up and see what they do. Highly recommended!

You have got to visit the Sunny Side Oyster Bar! Open seasonally, they are THE place to be in the Inner Banks region of NC. Great atmosphere and friendly faces from the surrounding community. Oysters and Shrimp are my favorite with their homemade sauces. Try a red rooster if you dare!

If you like oysters, you have to try this place if you are in the area. Opened in 1935, second oldest oyster bar on the east coast, steeped in history. They have a few other things (shrimp, scallops, crab legs); but that's only if you have a member of your group that refuses to eat oysters -- don't go unless you are going for oysters. You have a choice of steamed or raw (steamed oysters are very good, better than I expected, and what I would recommend), along with a to-die-for cocktail sauce, melted butter, and saltine crackers. You can also get a side of broccoli and cheese, but almost no one that we saw did. Oh, and you do this while sitting on very uncomfortable high stools in the old bar area, elbow to elbow with fellow diners, watching your shucker plop your oysters into a bowl in front of you about as fast as you can eat them. And if you don't get there VERY early (around 5:00pm for their 5:30pm first seating), you'll likely be waiting a long time for a bar seat. I'm glad I went -- and the oysters were wonderful -- but it's not a place I would go to on a regular basis.

Good old fashion Carolina oyster bar. Can’t beat this place! Get there early unless you want a few beers and a wait. Worth it, either way. Great spot!

At at the coolest oyster bar ever. It was built in 1935 and has never changed the way the serve. The place holds about 25 people at a time and can have up to a 3.5 hour wait. We lucked out and slid in one night just before closing. The food was amazing they suck the oysters in front of you making ur a unique experience with your server. 2 of which had been there 55 and 52 years.
