The ribs were meaty but the heavy seasoning made it unenjoyable. The chicken was heavily seasoned as well and was not enjoyable. The collards were tough and overpowered by vinegar. The mac n cheese had a chalky feel to it. The barbecue was a little dry but good. The baked beans and cornbread were delicious. Unfortunately this was my first and last time dining there. Customer service was amazing and I loved the atmosphere of the restaurant

The pulled pork bbq was awesome. Alo.g with the black eye peas, and collards. Husband had bbq chicken and potato salad and loved it. I would recommend the vinegar sauce also.

Drove down from Raleigh to try all the Greenville BBQ places and Sam Jones was the second on our list. I've eaten at the Sam Jones in Raleigh several times and the winterville location was very similar. I enjoyed every single bite the barbecue was smoky and delicious. The coleslaw was sweet and the cornbread was absolutely perfect. My friend got the ribs which I had never tried and they were fall off the bone incredible! The location had a pretty good crowd for 3:00 on a Saturday afternoon, but we didn't have to wait on a table even with a big crowd. Definitely some of the best BBQ in the state and a definite top 3 in my book.

As someone who’s been in Greenville for 3 years , i’m always finding something new to try. I wish I could give 12 stars , the ribs were juicy and perfect …the sauce…to DIE for , mac and cheese and baked beans…delicious….i’m stuffed and still have half a plate of each item left over. My only concern is to why I haven’t tried them sooner. The staff was friendly also. Plenty of parking as well. Definitely worth all $23.52!!! Try them out asap!

The cornbread makes me feel like I’m eating beside a campfire in 1883 about to take some Native American land

Late to the party but finally got around to trying this restaurant. There was some good and bad in the food. I got the 2 meat with 2 sides. My sides were good. The collards were flavored and cooked well, probably my favorite thing. Cole slaw was done well; had slight mayo, sugar, and not overpowering vinegar. It was well balanced.I wasn't a fan of the meat. I don't think my pork BBQ was smoked at all. The provided sauces were fine on the BBQ but overall I was not impressed. Chicken was better flavored but lacked smoke and char. I think it could have been marinated longer or smoked more. Skin on the chicken was decent. Overall, just very plain meat for what you would expect. I think it's correctable and perhaps I just got a meal at a rush where the food wasn't their normal standard.Cornbread was bad. Thin, no flavor, very dry. Worst part of the food by far.Service was good, prompt. I'll try again some other time but with the other BBQ options in Greenville it's not my first choice.

Unacceptable. Arrived with a little more than an hour before closing. No chopped pork, no slow-cooked chicken, no smoked turkey! Sweet tea wasn’t sweet after the first cup with still 45 minutes to close. If you’re a bbq joint in NC and you run out of BBQ, you should close your doors for the day.

Although the restaurant atmosphere is wonderful the food isn’t the greatest ☹️ In the pictures below the ribs are extremely huge, the cornbread is light (not yellow) and the soda was kinda flat! Good customer service but if your looking for Texas bbq, this isn’t the place for you; sad oink ⚰️?
