Always amazing, I brought the boys for their first visit and they loved it, we're going to miss you❤️🥺
Best tenderloin I've ever had, and the truffle potatoes were to die for. Great experience overall.
The pasta was delicious and the butterhorn melted in our mouths. Drinks were amazing. Would definitely come back and dine again.
I and my friend enjoyed a very delicious dinner, we loved the decor of the place and the simplicity of the menu . Great service and wine bottles 4112 . Thank very nice addition to Bismarck ND
Celebrated our daughters college graduation and we were very happy with everything we ate and the service was exceptional!
Great food! Sunday brunch, service was very good. We had waffles, American breakfast and coffee. They also offer Mimosas, they have a full bar. Great elegant atmosphere.
We had a business dinner last night which was planned only last minute. As always, The Butterhorn nailed it! The service, the food, the ambience was outstanding. We can't wait to go back soon!
The atmosphere was overall nice. The booths were very worn. My amaretto sour was good. The jalapeño popper arancini was ok. I had the beef tenderloin ordered medium, the inside was rare. The outside seasoning was decent. The sherry cream sauce was good. Some of the fingerling potatoes were burnt to a crisp.
The ricotta stuffed gnocchi chicken was good and tender. The gnocchi itself wasn’t the best. Overall just a very “ok” experience for the price.

Always a great meal here and tonight didn't disappoint. Service was very nice and it was great that they had a kids menu for our 2 year old. Fine dining for all!

Upon arrival, we were asked if we had a reservation—something we hadn’t thought to make because we weren’t planning on dining there. The only available seating was at the bar, which we gladly accepted. Service was a bit slow to start, but that gave us plenty of time to study the menu. It was a little limited, and there were only a couple of dishes we could eat (we're kosher), but we made our choices and waited with anticipation.
We kicked off the meal with Walleye Cakes, served with a tabasco mayo and remoulade. They were crispy on the outside, moist on the inside, and just the right amount of breading. Packed with flavor, they managed to let the fish shine without being overly "fishy"—a great balance. They were a strong start and left me excited for what was to come.
Next up: the Butterhorn Rolls. These were an absolute treat—hot, buttery, soft, and practically melting in our mouths. If there’s one thing I’d go back for without hesitation, it’s these rolls.
For our entrées, my husband went with the Lamb Chops with Couscous, while I opted for the Ricotta-Stuffed Gnocchi with Rosemary Chicken. The lamb chops were surprisingly enjoyable, even for me—someone who typically steers clear of lamb due to its earthy flavor. This one, however, was mild and tender, though I personally thought it needed a touch more salt. My husband wasn’t as thrilled with the couscous; while it was an interesting combination of cinnamon seasoning, garbanzo beans, apricots, mint yogurt, and cucumbers, the flavors didn’t quite blend as well as expected.
As for my gnocchi, it was good—though not my absolute favorite. My husband, on the other hand, loved it. The ricotta filling was rich and creamy, and the gnocchi itself was well-made. My only hesitation was the rosemary chicken—I've never been a fan of rosemary, and while I knew that going in, it was one of the few dishes we could eat. That being said, I still finished my entire plate, which speaks for itself.
Final Thoughts
While our visit to The Butterhorn wasn’t planned, it turned out to be a worthwhile experience. The Walleye Cakes and Butterhorn Rolls were definite highlights, while the entrées had their moments, depending on personal taste preferences. The service could have been a bit more attentive, but overall, it was a solid meal.

Food excellent cooked to perfection. Staff attentive and knowledgeable Highly recommend for brunch and dinner
Hard review to write as the food has always been good the many times we've been here, hence the reason for going back. But, the service is horrible. The host at the front, same guy every time, is very rude. He'll make you feel as if you don't deserve to be there. I will not take my family here again. I've been treated better by McDonald's staff. Treat customers better, after all, they are the driving force of any successful business.

The food was excellent. I had three grandchildren with me and the staff catered to them. They enjoyed the food and ate every bit of it. Highly recommend this restaurant.
