The beers aren't overwhelming, and the food was good, not great. This was pretty much what we anticipated on our visit to Devil's Lake. Our expectations weren't too high. But we enjoyed the atmosphere and friendly staff, and I would definitely return if I ever found myself in Devil's Lake again.
Great food and friendly service. The house brewed beers are excellent. Family friendly too. Keep an eye out for Norm.
Great beer and a friendly atmosphere. Ordered a pretzel and it wasn’t as good as I hoped but the mac and cheese and brisket panini hit the spot!
Great service and awesome beers. The food was delicious as well.
This was one of the most disheartening experiences I’ve had in Devil’s Lake. I drove all the way from Bismarck to go to Black Paws, and I will never be back. I visit Devil’s Lake quite frequently, and was excited to have a new spot to come to when I’m in town, but this will never be a place I choose again. Black Paws advertises as a family friendly place (even posting in August 2024 on their Facebook page about letting people adjust to their back to school schedules), but it is certainly not a place for kids. My group and I were so excited to have lunch with the kids at a place we could all enjoy, but the server at Black Paws ran us out of the restaurant after we asked for juice by saying, “this is not a Perkins.” When she asked if we were “pissed off,” we told her we were a little upset by a comment like that. She proceeded to tell us, “that’s okay we get a lot of business in here anyway, this is a brewery. At least you know what we are about now.” I am of the opinion, that if you want to only cater to adults, don’t advertise to families then. I will never go back to this establishment, as this is not a woman I’d ever want my nieces and nephews to have to be subjected to ever again.
Horrible waitress…she made rude comments to us and told our group she didn’t care if we ever came back as they have plenty of customers to replace us. Guessing this is not case as many table were empty!
Very very rude waitress…asked for apple juice for the kids and was told this place isn’t a Perkins … she then came back and asked if we were pissed off…she was told yes a little and after additional comments, we got up to leave and was told that there are plenty other people that come in so they won’t miss our business! Crazy bad service!! Don’t recommend and will not be going back!
Great local brews, solid service, and tasty gluten free options! Their rainbow and unicorn sour is one of the more intriguing and fun beers I’ve had in a very long time. Their Mac n cheese was excellent.
Yum! This place is so awesome! The food is so good and the service is awesome. We came for the ice fishing tournament and just happened to stop in.
Black paws is amazing. If you like a coffee stout, theirs was by far the best. They had wonderful food, they had a couple of vegetarian options, which was nice. They are dog and child friendly. I will definitely be back when I am in the area.

Love love love this place. Great people, great atmosphere, great beer. Thank you all the way from Santa Fe New Mexico!!
Amazing food great beer selection fun atmosphere
I was a resident of DL for many years and moved away when Black Paws was opening. I really wanted to go see how it was. I couldn't be happier. The food was excellent and the IPAs were just as good. The staff was so polite and respectful. I would highly recommend Black Paws for any local or tourist, you will be happy you went.
We really enjoyed our visit to the Brewery it was an unexpected oasis on a very hot mid-week afternoon. We were visitors from Massachusetts and the owners and others we met at the bar were so friendly. We had the Brisket Nachos which were very good, and the IPA's were outstanding. We walked in off the sidewalk just after 3:00 because the place looked interesting, and were immediately greeted by Marco, the friendliest Newfoundland puppy, so we stayed for the next couple hours.
Stop in you will not be disappointed!
I come here when I am in the area! Great Beer and Great Food!!
