I’ve tried Old 281’s Breakfast Burger and their KJ Burger, and they are the BEST burgers I’ve ever tasted, and that’s saying A LOT, b/c I’ve had some really good burgers in both ND & MN. If you’re ever passing thru Devils Lake, make a pit stop down to Old 281 Tavern & Grill in Minnewaukan and try one for yourself. It’s well worth the drive! #1 ND Best Burger in 2023 and 2024. For now though, vote for Old 281 Tavern & Grill (see link on their FB page)...
This is a Diamond in the rough,in middle of no where. The atmosphere is excellent, for couples as well as families. The staff is friendly & courteous.I recommend Kayla. And the food(chef Candace)...was made exactly as ordered. Old 281 tavern can make a mean cheeseburger, and the owner/grill master Matthew is gifted on the grill.Be safe, don't drink & drive. Benson County deputies are alert and waiting.
If you are close by all means stop in. If it’s chicken fried steak night trust me 100 miles is close it’s (awesome). I love great food. I fallow trip advisor all the time and I’m recommending a stop. Very good place to eat. The steaks are great. Help is friendly. It’s kinda small but usually moves pretty quickly. I truly believe it’s top couple places to eat any where close to Devils Lake.
