I’m giving Thunder Coffee on Sheyenne Street three stars, based on the service and atmosphere during my visit this morning. The shop itself has a nice vibe—definitely a cool place to hang out or get some work done.
That said, I can only comment on their black drip coffee, since I don’t usually drink the sweeter specialty drinks and didn’t order one today. Unfortunately, the drip coffee was not good. It had a very sour, bitter taste that I didn’t enjoy. If you’re like me and prefer a smooth, well-balanced black coffee, I’d recommend looking elsewhere.
Hopefully, their specialty drinks are better than their drip coffee, but for a simple black cup, Thunder Coffee misses the mark.

The hot Green Jasmine tea was absolutely delicious as was the brewed coffee and the cold Caught in the Rain coffee. Customer service was top notch and very pleasant. Thank you for a wonderful visit.

Wow, wow, wow — truly one of the best coffee shops I’ve been to! We were just passing through on a road trip and so glad we made a slight detour. Everything was phenomenal. Best cappuccino of my life. The breakfast burrito was delicious, could have put away three more. Pastries all looked gorgeous, we got a pain au chocolat. It was so perfect it made me cry.
Great coffee, fantastic service, and a very cool atmosphere.

Why Thunder Coffee is My Spot and will be yours
This isn’t just coffee. This is an experience. If you’re in Fargo and you’re drinking anything but Thunder Coffee, you’re doing life wrong.
• The Espresso Shot? Non-negotiable. You need that boost, and these guys have perfected it.
• Flavor of the Month Latte HoT or on Ice? If my wife swears by it, you know it’s good.
• Saturday and Sunday Pastries? Get there early, or you’ll be stuck watching someone else enjoy your croissant. And that’s a pain you don’t want.
Why Thunder Coffee Dominates the Local Scene
• It’s Built for the Hustlers – Whether you’re grinding at your startup, writing your next bestseller, or just getting through the day, this coffee fuels high-performers.
• No-BS Quality – These guys don’t cut corners. Every cup is made with respect for the beans, the brew, and your taste buds.
• Community Hub Vibes – It’s not just caffeine. It’s culture. People don’t just drink here; they connect, create, and build.
How to Level Up Your Thunder Coffee Experience
1. First-Timer? – Grab an espresso, no sugar, no milk. Taste what real coffee is.
2. Regular? – Try the flavor of the month Hot or On ice. It’s the sleeper hit.
3. Sunday Veteran? – You already know. Be there early. No second chances on the pastries.
This isn’t just coffee it’s a ritual. Don’t waste time. Get over to Thunder Coffee today, and when you do, text your friend, “This is the best coffee I’ve had in my life.” Because it will be.

I will say the veggie breakfast burrito is absolutely delicious and they make it in house so it tastes really fresh! It was my first time at this location and the reason I gave it 3-stars is because of the customer service that day. It could possibly be that the person was having a bad day or something but it was just an awkward and unpleasant interaction. My drink was also made wrong but I felt so awkward, I just left a bit after. Again, I’d be willing to try again and those burritos are delish! It just didn’t quite hit right this time.
The Brewhalla location is def 4-star because they were much nicer, had the delicious burrito again, and the drive-thru was really cool!
Love it!
break the corporate chains and enjoy unique, authentic coffee worth every $
Great place to go on Mother’s Day!
Awesome coffee shop with great tasting coffee, beautiful latte art (🦢😍) and a heart for the community! And the bakery items were fresh and tasted great!

Tiny coffee cups, this place doesn't have treats for dogs, not dog friendly. No whip cream, this place is a joke
Always excellent coffee and tea. The vibes are great and the staff are the sweetest, friendliest people around. Check out their seasonal drinks! They are so creative with them! Great place to sit and work or chat with friends. There is a small conference room tucked away in the back that's great for meetings. 10/10 no notes. 🤩
I cannot speak highly enough of the Thunder on Sheyenne. Staff, seating, coffee, treats, all are top notch. This is the coffee shop I often recommend to friends that are visiting from out of town. The only gripe I have is parking - the parking lot seems to always be full & street parking can be tough, but it is worth it!!
I used to think they had the best coffee in Fargo especially with their pour overs. But the last 3 times I've been there the coffee (both drip and pour over) were brewed so strong I couldn't even taste the flavor notes, it was just an overpowering bold coffee with no nuance. Made me very jittery afterwards too. I kept giving it another chance thinking it was a new employee or an off day but it's obvious they've changed their protocol. Some staff are very friendly, others are just okay. Ambiance is nice.
