So the famous Bohemian Cafe in Omaha shut down a few years ago. Run into the ground by the children of the original founders. So along with me, and a couple friends and family, we made the 2-hour drive from Omaha into Abie's place to get a little little taste of Czechoslovakian authenticity. It did not disappoint. The food was amazing. The service from Mary and her staff was off the chart great. The back and forth banter with the entire staff was hilarious, and by no means interfered with the dining experience. We shared photos of our kids, along with a few fun stories about life the universe and everything. There is nothing bad I can say about this establishment. I was at first skeptical about the 4-Hour round trip commitment. But it was totally worth it. If you're hungry, go there right now. Last thing: kolaches. I'm not a big dessert guy, And mixing fruit and pastry is definitely not my thing. But Abie's does them in a way that makes me a convert.

Great service. Good food and a couple of us bought kolaches to boot.

The place to be, housed in a renovated schoolhouse, with the gym doubling as needed for polka parties. Abie's is known statewide for authentic Czech cuisine as well as American favorites.

We had a good time at Abie's place. The place was very busy the night we went. Lots a friendly people there. I assume they were mostly local to the area. It was nice. Server was very attentive and took good care of us even though it was busy. The place is functional; but not fancy. We went for the Bohemian food on Wednesday night. It was good, but not great. Not sure if we'll go again.

Abie's place is a hidden little GEM ? a little rustic, however humble and very well put together by a devoted hard worker woman and her team!

We’ve been making the trek out to Abie Ne for the Roast Pork dinners on Wednesdays ever since I discovered it about 4 years ago. With the loss of The Bohemian Cafe in South Omaha this IS as close as you’re going to get. It is AUTHENTIC, HOMEMADE and DELICIOUS ! Well worth the drive and I highly recommend it.We’ve tried some of the Bohemian style dinners served by various places around town but they all fall short in flavor, serving size, and price. This does NOT disappoint. You get a GENEROUS serving of roasted to perfection pork, a GENEROUS side of mashed potatoes and gravy, a GENEROUS serving of EDIBLE sauerkraut, (THAT alone is important) a GENEROUS helping of potato dumplings, a side salad and some of the fluffiest thick sliced rye bread since rye bread was invented.Do yourselves a flavor and make the trip through Nebraskas Bohemian Alps and stop in at Abies Place and give it a try.Oh, and did I mention the homemade AUTHENTIC Kolaches !?!?!So many to choose from and so perfectly delicious !Plus they also sell loaves of the homemade rye and cinnamon rolls. We have both dined in and carried out.AND we have dined in AND carried out. I’ve bought extra to take home and just like good spaghetti, it’s even better the next day !!!Try it, you’ll like it, Thank me later ?I am NOT affiliated with Abies Place in any way nor do I get free roast pork dinners lol

Love coming here. The food is very reasonably priced, the people are super friendly, and their food has always been consistent and delicious. Also, crazy to think back when I was a kindergartner at the school, but it does make for a great restaurant. Also, their Kolaces are delicious and I have to get a dozen every time I come there ?.

After hearing about this place, we decided to make a road trip for lunch to Abie's Place. Check out their Facebook for the day's lunch special. For Friday, it was fried chicken and, darn, was it good! It came out piping hot, crispy, fresh, and juicy. Along with it delicious baked beans (about the best I ever had), potato salad, lettuce salad, and a beverage. They are also famous for their kolaches. We bought a dozen for $18 and they are great! A wide selection of flavors for such a small place.
