Waited forever to get food, then waited again for silverware! Food was waaaay too salty. Couldn’t eat it. I know they’re busy but this wasn’t good altogether.
Nice place and great help working there but food was expensive and not very good. The prime rib comes in two sizes small and large. It should have said small and really small. Meat was also very tough even served medium rare. Potatoes weee cold and baked potato wouldn’t even melt butter. I expected more for a $45 meal.
My husband would give this restaurant a 4 because his Reuben was better than most. But my Cobb salad came up short. It was made with a bagged iceberg mix rather than romaine. The chicken was freshly grilled which is ideal, but the bacon and tomatoes were not very flavorful. We had a molten chocolate dessert which was not as hot as you usually find.
I ordered an Agrodulce Salad and the steak was tremendous but there were numerous pieces of old lettuce and slimy lettuce that seemed not to be the result of the cooked veggies. I would not have served the meal that way.
We spent the day driving the Sandhills Hghwy 2 through Nebraska ending up Sunday night in Broken Bow. We had little hope of a great meal. Most eateries were closed. In fact, at 7 pm, TripAdvisor even said Bonfire was closed but as we drove by we saw activity so in we went. It wasn't crowded and was a pleasant restaurant and bar. We each ordered glass of wine, a reasonable Cabernet and Pinot. We shared the salmon dinner with the veggie du jour and a baked potato. The fish was excellent and well cooked, the veggies lovely and the baked potato fine as well. It was a meal beyond our expectations for the evening. And we then completed dinner with a good creme brulee. Service was friendly but a bit spotty, but it hardly marred the meal
Charming setting. Excellent food! Straightback wooden booth seating. Great service. No one wiped tables between customers.
We eat at Bonfire Grill 8-10 times each year. Last week we hosted 12 friends and all ordered off the menu. Three ordered the 10 oz NY Strip, one ordered the salmon. The NY Strips were each 1/4” to 3/8” thick, charred on the outside, and you had to use your imagination to make it taste like NE beef. VERRRY DISAPPOINTED!! The salmon order (this person orders salmon regularly at BG) was smaller than normal and a little dry. While the other meals appeared and tasted like normal, I would NOT recommend ordering a steak or salmon, I know I will not. However…the service was great!!
I ordered the queen size prime rib with baked potato, salad and a Long Island Iced Tea. The prime rib was paper thin with more fat in in than edible meat and had absolutely no flavor. The potato was bland and like it was out of a microwave. They served everything at once so no time to eat the salad, which the blue cheese dressing was like water. To top it off, I had a paper straw in my LIIT!!! Seriously some very poor food and drink service.
While the Trip Advisor reviews were inconsistent about this place, we wanted to try it. We were seated quickly, and ordered. Although our salads came before our appetizers, both were good. The spinach & artichoke dip is served warm with both torilla and pita chips for dipping. My wife had the grilled chicken alfredo which was excellent, and I had the grilled salmon with dill aoli. It was a huge piece of salmon that I couldn't finish, and the dill aoli was nice. The baked potato came with packaged butter and sour cream. For a place of his caliber, they could do better than that. The baked potato should have had real butter, real sour cream, bacon bits, and chives. The rolls were good. I thoroughly enjoyed my creme brule for dessert. The service was gracious, though maybe a touch inattentive. It was a good meal for a good price. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening at the Bonfire Grill.
We started with the spinach artichoke dip and barely had room to spilt a steak sandwich with onion petals. It was a delight. Decent beer on tap. Fine booths in the restaurant. There is also a bar with the same food and some outside seating. An attentive waitress.

Great food and great people. I had a husky pork chop. It was a nice, juicy large pork chop. Asparagus was good too. The staff was very friendly and even better were the locals inviting me to their table to chat. It was a great experience.
Not just hamburgers in this historic and charming tavern! Friendly and efficient service too! Sit at the bar or in booths.
