Nissen Wines was Nebraska Passport stop number 73 for us in 2024. It was not very crowded the day we were there. The weather and view in the back were perfect, as was the company of a local cat who had a lot of personality. We sampled several of the wines, but did not have time for any food as we had to keep moving.

We were on a search for cooler weather and a break form the heat and decided to take a road trip north and the weather was perfect and so was the location and the wines. But that is where the perfect ends. We entered the location and walked around and no one was there to assist. A lady finally came down and was going behind the bar. My friend asked if she had a wine list and was told to Hold her horses and she would get to that when she could. Every other sentence from her was how bad her back is and that she is having problems because of the weather. I understand if you do not feel well but we did not drive 2 and half hours to hear about that. I am here to enjoy a Sunday Funday and not hear about your issues. The wines were very good and the scenery was very nice and we enjoyed our wines but the service is not what is expected at a winery.

A very good Nebraska-South Dakota-Iowa winery setting, far better than most. I have not tried all the wines here but find the Reserve Red to be an excellent dry wine for sipping or with a good dinner. Stop by and be pleasantly surprised.

My preference is for dry wines so I gravitated to the red and white reserves. Very good!
The patio and view were relaxing and quite enjoyable.
When you're in the area, be sure to make a stop! Or just make a special trip of it!
