Special Scoops Ice Cream Parlor

I applaud the cause and have been a good customer since moving here. My son received a coupon from his elementary school on his last day of fifth grade because of a downpour and the truck needing to leave. He was told he could use it anytime. Well he tried today. Had his coupon, went to the cashier (presumably the owner) and she said it had to be within two months (his last day of school was May 21st so technically within her two month time frame) and she literally yanked his cone away and threw it away. So she preferred to waste food then let a kid celebrate his advancement to middle school. I went in there to ask about it and she said “oh” when I pointed out that we were within her identified timeframe and then made the excuse that the school already paid the bill. When asked shouldn’t she honor the coupon then, she said no. It just seems wild to me that a cone was refused and thrown away rather than letting a kid have it. Oh well, business lost in the future.

A veteran and his service dog, wearing a highly visible service vest was turned away from your establishment. Please educate yourself on why this action is not only sad but illegal.

I am a disabled combat veteran with a service dog. I was denied service by Scoops because I had my service dog with me. I find it very ironic that an organization set up to support people with disabilities would discriminate against someone with a disability. If you want to support veterans do not support this organization

Update: The owner made sure her employees understood ADA rights and we were able to go in, although the cashier prohibited my child with the dog from approaching the counter, and attempted to ask for his papers. Anyway, the ice cream was delicious, and the young man behind the ice cream was extremely friendly.

If you are with a disabled person who has a service dog, they will refuse service. This is actually against the law, but she refused to listen and was actually very mean about it.

This was Nebraska Passport stop number fourteen for 2024 and one of our absolute favorite stops so far. Donna told us all about her mission, while Zach served up the goods -- two scoops in a cup for me (Jamoca Almond Fudge, and the invented in Nebraska Butter Brickle). We will always make a point to stop in when we are out west, and you should too!

Not only is the ice cream and sweets delish, but the store is full of items that are homemade. To me, it operates in the same premise, as the Village of the blue rose in Missouri.in speaking with the founders of both places, I admire what they both have done,. If you're not familiar with either concept of how they both started...i'd definitely suggest a quick look up on both. It gives one renewed faith in our society.

Not a review but a suggestion: I hear you have a truck so that you can make your business portable and go to different events. I wonder what procedures would be necessary to get your truck out to the Hastings rec ball fields by the YMCA on Tuesdays and Thursday nights. Just something to consider because some sort of concessions out there when the Little League kids are playing would be welcomed by all the parents and family members.

I am glad that they are helping out special people giving them the chance to learn
