Fantastic bar with fun bartenders! We were there for happy hour and Christian greeted us with a big smile, positive attitude, and fun personality! Mike came for a shift exchange and he was made the night fun too! We will absolutely stop by again the next time we are in Lincoln!

I love this bar but my friend and I tried to go to the bathroom together and instead of letting us know in a civilized way, the bartender THREW a dirty paper towel at us? VERY disappointing for this bar.

Clear that out-of-towners were “uncool” ruined experience. Bartender was great to regulars but the rest of us were second class citizens.1

Pretty cool spot but, after seeing all the replies but after seeing the replies from the owner, something seems off.

Rude bartender (male)

New in town and unfamiliar with the local drink scene, I found myself at TOTS without a menu in sight. Eager to try something new, I had seen some enticing photos of drinks online that people had posted from this very bar. Confidently, I asked the bartender about a couple of those drinks. His response was curt: “No. No.”

Undeterred, I politely asked if he could suggest any cocktails for me to try. He dismissed me with a brusque, “No time for that.”

It was a disheartening experience, to say the least.

To management: please just invest in an ID scanner, it’ll make everyone’s lives easier. (I’ll add this edit, to customers: make sure you bring a second form of id if you plan on enjoying the fun atmosphere and good vibes)

I usually love this bar and the outdoor area. A group of friends and I were out for drinks last week on a week night after celebrating the completion of our grad school board exam. We are all 23-26 years old and the bouncer denied 3 of our friends entry because he did not believe that one was 25. She has an in-state ID, however, many of us have out-of-state IDs due to being in grad school at UNL. He cited our out-of-state IDs as another reason for not letting everyone in. Very disappointed in the bouncer’s lack of ability to do his job and the bar ended up losing lots of service from a group of 10.Edit: we did ask if there was anything we could do, including call the police or show social media proof of college graduation photos with timestamps and the bouncer denied. Hoping to go back and have more pleasant interactions in the future because I’ve otherwise had good service and great drinks.

One of my favorite places to grab a drink in Lincoln when the weather is nice. The indoor part of the bar itself is pretty small but being able to take your beverage out into the courtyard is the best part of this place. No beer on tap but they have a decent beer selection.Outside they have some tables with propane heaters so if the weather changes you can have a nice fire going.

This is the best bar in Lincoln, Nebraska and if any of you scraggly fools think otherwise I need you to seriously reconsider.Yeah, the staff is a little sassy, I’m so sorry that they have personality- I adore the witty one-liners and jokes. I think they are incredibly personable and charismatic. The drinks are strong and very well priced. Every time I come into this bar I have always found a seat, and I’ve never had to wait for the bathroom. The courtyard is incredibly underrated; there is no place I’d rather spend a 50° or higher day. I also love that they have an assortment of games including darts, connect four, and cornhole in the summer. They hold a wide range of events that my friends and I have happily attended. It’s also a great place to be in the middle of the afternoon or in the dead of night. This is truly the greatest bar in Lincoln, Nebraska and I will not accept any criticisms on that. I love you Tavern on the Square, I someday hope my photo can join the gallery wall. LOVE U

Once upon a tipsy twilight, amidst the bustling streets of Lincoln, Nebraska, there stood a humble watering hole known as Tavern on the Square. Now, this wasn't your ordinary, run-of-the-mill bar; oh no, it was a peculiar patchwork of beauty, a melting pot of mismatched madness that somehow made sense in its own twisted way.As you crossed the threshold, a symphony of clinking glasses and hearty laughter enveloped you like a warm, boozy embrace. The dimly lit interior was a mishmash of photos, tables, barstools and kitschy décor, where the atm machine flickered like fireflies in the night, casting an otherworldly glow upon the proceedings.Behind the bar, a motley crew of characters presided over an array of curious concoctions, each one more peculiar than the last. From the strongest gin and tonic in all the world and most famously the bottled topo chico (RIP) who died late last week. Every drink seemed to have been plucked from the pages of a drunk fairy tale. The patrons, too, were a colorful cast of characters, each with their own story to tell. There was the grizzled old sea captain who regaled anyone who would listen with tales of his adventures on the high seas, and the mysterious fortune teller who read palms in the corner table, her crystal ball twinkling with secrets yet to be revealed. (I was drunk)But amidst the chaos and clamor, there was a sense of camaraderie, a feeling of belonging that permeated the air like the scent of stale beer and cigarette smoke. For in this strange little oasis, everyone was welcome, and everyone had a tale to tell.So if you ever find yourself in need of a respite from the mundane monotony of everyday life, look no further than Tavern on the Square. it's certainly the most enchanting. Cheers to that, my friends. Cheers to that.
