One of my favorite places to grab a drink in Lincoln when the weather is nice. The indoor part of the bar itself is pretty small but being able to take your beverage out into the courtyard is the best part of this place. No beer on tap but they have a decent beer selection.Outside they have some tables with propane heaters so if the weather changes you can have a nice fire going.

This is the best bar in Lincoln, Nebraska and if any of you scraggly fools think otherwise I need you to seriously reconsider.Yeah, the staff is a little sassy, I’m so sorry that they have personality- I adore the witty one-liners and jokes. I think they are incredibly personable and charismatic. The drinks are strong and very well priced. Every time I come into this bar I have always found a seat, and I’ve never had to wait for the bathroom. The courtyard is incredibly underrated; there is no place I’d rather spend a 50° or higher day. I also love that they have an assortment of games including darts, connect four, and cornhole in the summer. They hold a wide range of events that my friends and I have happily attended. It’s also a great place to be in the middle of the afternoon or in the dead of night. This is truly the greatest bar in Lincoln, Nebraska and I will not accept any criticisms on that. I love you Tavern on the Square, I someday hope my photo can join the gallery wall. LOVE U

Once upon a tipsy twilight, amidst the bustling streets of Lincoln, Nebraska, there stood a humble watering hole known as Tavern on the Square. Now, this wasn't your ordinary, run-of-the-mill bar; oh no, it was a peculiar patchwork of beauty, a melting pot of mismatched madness that somehow made sense in its own twisted way.As you crossed the threshold, a symphony of clinking glasses and hearty laughter enveloped you like a warm, boozy embrace. The dimly lit interior was a mishmash of photos, tables, barstools and kitschy décor, where the atm machine flickered like fireflies in the night, casting an otherworldly glow upon the proceedings.Behind the bar, a motley crew of characters presided over an array of curious concoctions, each one more peculiar than the last. From the strongest gin and tonic in all the world and most famously the bottled topo chico (RIP) who died late last week. Every drink seemed to have been plucked from the pages of a drunk fairy tale. The patrons, too, were a colorful cast of characters, each with their own story to tell. There was the grizzled old sea captain who regaled anyone who would listen with tales of his adventures on the high seas, and the mysterious fortune teller who read palms in the corner table, her crystal ball twinkling with secrets yet to be revealed. (I was drunk)But amidst the chaos and clamor, there was a sense of camaraderie, a feeling of belonging that permeated the air like the scent of stale beer and cigarette smoke. For in this strange little oasis, everyone was welcome, and everyone had a tale to tell.So if you ever find yourself in need of a respite from the mundane monotony of everyday life, look no further than Tavern on the Square. it's certainly the most enchanting. Cheers to that, my friends. Cheers to that.

The courtyard is like God reached down out of the sky and placed his finger on once specific point in Lincoln, Nebraska. I feel like I was born there, have lived my whole life there, and will someday lay to rest there. The bricks, the lights, the music, the staff, it is all… Perfect. Never have I ever experienced such joy, laughter, memories, friendships, love, and loss. Except, I never really was the loser except that one time during family feud when my team got second place, but that’s no one‘s fault but ours. Five stars all the way. I wish there was one in every city in America. Best country on earth. Tavern on the Square, please hang a photo of me on your wall.

Protect yourself, your family, and your friends, go anywhere else. Staff is horribly rude, and will not take accountability for any actions. They even respond sarcastically and unprofessionally to complaints.Read the other lower star ratings.Update: I gave a Buffalo Wild Wings 5 stars because of excellent service. The waiter I had was wonderfully kind. Crazy how a little bit of humility and kindness can give someone a good enough experience to give a major chain a good rating. Honestly your just hurting your own business, my only goal was to spread awareness of the atrocious attitude of your business, but you’re proving my point for me. You could’ve convinced me to remove the 1 star with a simple apology, but instead I think there will be a few more that pop up.

My wife and I ON OUR wedding day, decided to celebrate at TOTS. we stepped in the bathroom for a few minutes (to readjust my suit) and the bartender, JUSTIN couldn't understand why two obvious newlyweds were in the bathroom together. I mean our outfits couldn't be more telling. And In front of everyone, he calls us out acting like we couldn't be more disgusting for sharing a bathroom. I wish something more happened in that piss covered, neglected bathroom but, my drunk self just needed a fresh tuck. Anyway we went straight to the bar and Justin just couldn't wrap his head around us in the bathroom together. We asked him for a couple mix drinks, and he just gave us a blank stare. so we just walked away... And opened our own bottle of champagne in the beer garden to celebrate. Hope Justin had fun cleaning up our mess... Update*** Thank you for your response, your a very professional and understanding business. Obviously you've been in a serious relationship and have had more than half taken. I'm sure your family is every proud of their 50yr bartender, you've gone so far in life. TY ?

Lincoln is lucky to have such a great establishment! We hosted a retirement party here for my dad and had about 100 people come. The staff was super helpful in planning and catering in food for us. It was an incredible evening made easy. The courtyard offers a special ambiance in the evening, the bar itself is fully loaded with options, and the speakeasy in the back is elite. Thank you Matt, Katie, and team for all the help!

Great place in Lincoln's Haymarket area for enjoying drinks on the patio. We were here for a tailgate on a warm day and appreciated the plentiful shade. They had tall-boy domestic beer available for sale on the patio, along with a projection TV for the game. Inside, a no-nonsense bartender efficiently serves up mixed drinks and local canned beers at reasonable prices. Vibe is local and unpretentious. No food as far as I could tell.
