The food is always good. The issue I have is the wait. The last three times we were there we had a reservation for brunch . It took almost 45 minutes to seat us as a party of 4. There is a small waiting area. Although we like the food the long wait negates the appeal of the meal.
I have wanted to eat here for a long time and finally did. It really was a great experience! The food was great although a little different than what I expected. Our server Mia was very attentive. It really was a very nice experience. I think to get a truly overall feel a person should go in the evening as well.
Had a reservation for noon, wasn't seated until 12:50. Server was overwhelmed with trying to get around all the people standing around waiting to be seated all over the restaurant. Beignets were great, but the biscuits are dense hockey pucks with very little gravy. Not a pleasant dining experience. Will definitely go somewhere else next time we're in town.
Excellent service and the food was top notch. I had asked for a great seat for a special occasion and they didn't disappoint. We will be back again.
The brunch menu had something for everyone in our party. As always the food was delicious and Elliott, our server, was attentive.
We picked this restaurant because it was well rated online, the menu looked good and it was in walking distance to our hotel. We were not disappointed. Our waitperson, Jen, was prompt, courteous, professional and non-interruptive, and she knew the menu offerings well. We ordered Brussels sprouts to start, and they were fabulous. For his entree, my husband ordered the mixed grill with chicken breast and salmon with French onion soup to start. He liked the lighter broth in the soup and commented on the tenderness of the chicken. He's particular about how done salmon needs to be and Jen did a great job communicating it to the chef who cooked it perfectly for him. I ordered the beer-braised pot roast, which did not disappoint. The meat was lean and tender and the gravy was rich and silky. I wish I could have eaten all of it, but the portions are quite generous. If we're ever in Lincoln, Nebraska, again, we won't have to look for a place to have a lovely dinner experience.
Excellent food, service, ambience, etc. Very enjoyable. We will be visiting more often for supper than we have in the pasr.
The food and service was excellent, once we were seated. We had a reservation for 6 PM, but did not get seated until 645. In the meantime, we had to stand and wait in a crowd with others. It was obvious that they really overbooked and that was disappointing.
Food and service were too notch! Server was amazing, we've had her before. Only disappointment was that we had a reservation for 5:45 but they didn't have a table ready for us.
We had a family dinner to celebrate our daughter. It was absolutely lovely. The service was great. It was fairly noisy due to the large table next to us. Food was great overall. We loved the truffle fries and spinach and artichoke dip. My family loved their food. One daughter got crab cakes for dinner, one got the club sandwich, and my husband got the pork chop. I, on the other hand, did not love my choice of food. I got the crepe cordon bleu casserole. It was really unappealing-2 crepes with cheeses and ham, though I could barely find ham, and the whole plate was gooey and with no real flavor. I love the Green Gateau and will definitely go back, but no more crepe for me.

We had a fantastic experience at Green Gateau. Elliott took great care of us. The food was delicious for all five of us.
Return customer having been several times over the years. Great go to spot in downtown Lincoln. Made a reservation since we planned to go right after the football game. Was running a few minutes late due to traffic so called to update them. They were very accommodating and our table was ready when we arrived. Quaint spot with daily specials and a vast and wonderful menu. Enjoyed the house salad, bread service and our meals. Desserts looked wonderful but, too full for dessert. Recommend a reservation if events are going on in Lincoln. We plan to return and will continue to recommend Green Gateau to our friends. Thanks for another wonderful experience.
We had a 5:15 reservation and it was pretty quiet when we entered. We don't usually eat that early but had plans at 7. We were greeted by friendly hosts and seated near the door. The tables were a little too close as it was difficult for even small guests to reach their chairs without shifting and moving my chair. Even the wait staff was bumping me while delivering the food to the table beside us. This is my only complaint as the staff was personable and friendly, the wine of the night was amazing, the food was perfectly prepared and plated beautifuly and was delicious! The presentation of the desserts was unexpectedly elegant and we ended up sharing the lithuanian torte even though we were both full. This was our first visit and we will definitely be back!
I hosted out of town coworkers. Everyone was very happy with their selections, and we were able to sample Happy Hour appetizers without guilt.
We made reservations only an 1 1/2 hours before we'd arrive & I was surprised we did get a table. It was very busy when we arrived and we still only waited a few minutes for a table. The staff was very friendly and apologized for any wait and we were promptly served and the meal was outstanding. This has been a favorite in Lincoln and our experience proofs why. Five stars & above!!
