Sakura Sushi & Steak House

Came in for the first time a month or two ago. We're seated right away. No one brought us water or took drink orders.

A half hour later we flagged down a guy that I think was supposed to be bussing tables but was just wandering back and forth with plenty of uncleared tables. He took our drink order which we never received.

Our waiter finally came over. He was busy with several tables and apologized and took our drink order again as well as our food order. After that, the food arrived pretty quickly and the sushi was good but not enough to make me want to go back after this bad experience.

The atmosphere is pretty dingy and rundown. Not appealing in the least.

Ordered the hibachi Steak add mushroom medium rare. Steak was so overcooked it was hard to chew. My complaints fell on deaf ears in the restaurant.. never again . Also had a fly in my soup

Really good food, and great atmosphere, but our server was extremely short with us. Very disappointed because the server can really be a make or break for an experience and unfortunately he made it a break.

We've been working in Norfolk on weekends for the last couple of months. We've eaten at this place 5 times. We eat on the dining room side. I order sushi and she orders hot food. The sushi has been good, without exception. The last three times, her food came out cold. Tonight she finally complained, before the guy had even left the table. They literally took her plate back and microwaved it. When they brought it back, the meat was overdone, the shrimp were rubbery, and the rice was dry. WE'RE DONE! I tried to like this place, but we won't be going back after this. We overheard the diners next to us complaining that theirs was cold as well...16 more weeks worth of assignments, so we'll be finding a new place to eat in Norfolk. Any suggestions?

Absolutely love it here. For rhe last few years we've been coming here for my birthday and it's amazing. If you ever get the chance, come here and get the hibachi! Randy does AMAZING work!

The sashimi here is portioned well and tasted great. I enjoyed the variety of the sushi & sashimi combination and recommend it for the variety.
