My wife and I ate dinner here yesterday. She ordered the Wailea Stew and I the MahiMahi. Both were excellent but the MahiMahi was the best I've ever had. The slight charred flavor and spices made it absolutely addictive. It was so good in fact that my wife traded me. I love curry so the stew was excellent as well but I'll be ordering the MahiMahi next time. Drinks were on the pricey side but I'll be going back soon.

Settled into a wonderful Saturday afternoon lunch to a uniquely delicious experience at Pine and Black. Discover a well thought out menu of eclectic flavors that find their way to your palette in an outstanding and surprisingly decedent balance. Everything was prepared and executed with focused precision. We had the Fish and chips and the Encinitas tacos which were fabulous.
If your in the papillion area this is a must try for those that wish to experience culinary variety of the highest order.

Beautiful restaurant! Service was fantastic, but found average food experience. I had braised beef sandwich with excellent presentation. However, the bun was dry and taste was salty. Experience did not meet establishment's moniker for healthy west-coast cuisine.

The atmosphere was pretty quaint and what you would expect of a bistro - cozy, relaxed, and inviting. The servers teemed with friendliness, and I thought this might be a cool new spot for dinner and drinks... but then the food came out. (*cracking knuckles).
The presentation was great and the smells were great... but the taste was bland and nearly insulting to my palate. Plain grilled meat - no salt, no pepper, no seasoning of any kind. To the "chef"... salt is a magnifier of flavor - that's why they put it in dessert items too - learn to use it. Why? Because, once meat is cooked, it can't take anymore flavor... so if I was supposed to add salt and pepper onto it myself... I'm not a fan of having to put raw salt and pepper onto under-seasoned meat because it screws up the taste profile.
But, okay, let's just assume the chef was going for "al na-tur-al" naked (in terms of flavor)... just tell me up front and I can almost forgive that... HOWEVER, I think serving me a well-done steak, when I asked for it to be prepared medium, is against the law in Nebraska?!? I'll have to ask on that one.
Guys, I really wanted to like you... but it was just underwhelming flavor. The fingerling potatoes had a weird oily taste and the asparagus was still pretty rigid (though I don't mind a little bite in my veggies).
Overall... I may go back one day, who knows, but this definitely wouldn't be a choice on my list of local dining establishments.

Our experiences at Pine and Black have been great. The food is amazing, and it's our hope that they find a way to expand their physical location. The dining room reminds me of an NYC experiemce: well-appointed, lively, but cramped. We will continue to return, as their food, cocktails and wine offerings are worth every dollar we spent!!
What a cute little restaurant! Loved everything about it but the pricing....a bit high. Service and food quality was fantastic. My husband had a Maui mule that sounded good but tasted like a regular mule (no pineapple flavor at all) and his copper mug was only half full.....value was not good for $11. Otherwise the rest of our food was good. GOAT appetizer was Mmmmm!
Pine and Black Bistro is one of my newest favorite places to eat. They offer so many gluten free options, including appetizers and dessert! The GOAT is the best GF appetizer I've had - my absolute favorite - it's cauliflower bread, a goat cheese spread, and a strawberry jam. They also have multiple entrees that are gluten free or can be made gluten free. As well as other 'regular' food that my husband says is amazing as well!
