Ole's is a wonderful place for so many reasons. It is a true gem and a place I gooe always remains just as it is, just where it is. I appreciate so much that Tim has maintained the place Ole built and nurtured for so many years. Of course it has been modernized, as sadly has everything in this world today. If you look carefully with your eyes closed however, you can still see the good old boys toasting the end of Prohibition at the magnificent bar. If you listen carefully, the stories they told that night still echo through the walls. There are those that will get offended about the mounts. There are lots of other places they can dine. The mounts, the photos, the old bar signs. I love them all so much! Then there is the food. Fresh, hot and delicious. Prices are very fair, and the people are all just as friendly and genuine as you would expect to find in a small Nebraska town. Needless to say, this is not my first visit, not will it be my last. I live 250 miles from here but have eaten at Ole's dozens of times! Of you haven't been here, it os well worth a detour! And no, this review was not solicited, nor do I know any of the staff or the owners. The only thing we have in common is the love of the Midwestern lifestyle, history, wildlife, good food, and the Cornhuskers, of course!

Walked in, told by bartender they were still serving breakfast. Seated right away, waitress came right over and we ordered immediately. She came back a few moments later and said “The cooks are done with breakfast, do you want lunch?” Not really, but we decided to try it. After ordering, we waited over a half hour to receive our food- my cod sandwich was fine, fries were cold. Husbands chili burger was inedible. The chili was so cold that it had cooled off the burger, and the shredded cheese on top hadn’t melted. We mentioned this to the waitress and got a stare and “Sorry bout that”. No offer to warm it up, or for something else. Came back later and said it was taken off the bill and apologized again. If you like stuffed big game animals, this is a place for you, but I’d stick to just getting a drink at the bar.

Had a good visit! Ordered the Pork Tenderloin Sandwich. It was big & tasty! Stop when you are in the area!

Worth the stop. Just off I80. Unique atmosphere, service was outstanding, food was good. I had the Ribeye and was cooked as ordered. I would recommend to anyone who knows what to expect. Looking for a 3 star Michelin rating...go somewhere else to be disappointed. Want a very good meal, in a fun place...this is it!

We turned off the interstate and drove toward Paxton, Ole's Big Game . . . Very friendly staff here. We were seated and checked out the huge menu and huge animals around, tusks and an elephant and polar bear and giraffe were in the dining area. I ordered a Rueben sandwich and hubby got the philly steak sandwich. Sandwiches were great and french fries were hot ! It was worth the drive off the interstate.

Beautiful assortment of taxidermy hanging from the walls, but was not impressed with our lunch. Waiter was obviously new but received good tip for his sincere effort. Wished the kitchen would have put some effort into it.

What an interesting place, so much history and info to see. Food was good, friendly service. It really shows the love Ole had for the sport of hunting.

Ole's Big Game Steakhouse and Lounge was on the itinerary for a lunch stop for our bus tour. As others have mentioned, it is a small restaurant in a very tiny town and has developed a considerable reputation as has many big game animal heads and bodies as part of the experience. We were given a history of the restaurant by the owner and over all the service was very good. The salad was good. My hamburger was over done and my husband's under done. Later that afternoon, he got sick with abdominal pain, headache and nausea, causing us to have to decline the evening meal with the tour group. Was his illness caused by the underdone burger? Possibly.

It was dark but this seemed to be in a little tiny town of pretty much nothing. It was unique having animal mounts of anything and everything from deer to giraffe. Not sure if it was all real and didn't want to ask. Anyway service was good and the Rocky Mountain Oysters were amazing!!!!!!

Best steaks my family and I have ever had. This is not hyperbole. Lots of great animal heads from years past, great cocktails and friendly service. I also liked the decor. Nice assortment of tee shirts, too. You will not be disappointed.
