Workers are kind and friendly, the food is great, and the prices are reasonable. They have delicious sandwiches made to order, salads, daily specials and the best cookies and whoopie pies. They also serve Starbucks coffee. My favorite lunch spot in Concord!
Can’t vouch for the food, as i was turned away for asking for a lunch option, apparently 15 minutes before they were to serve lunch. The woman running the register was very rude telling me this.I get it that they have breakfast and lunch times, but losing business and sales, while being rude, over such a small time before menu switch is ridiculous. Especially given that it is located in a hospital, who knows what these customers may be going through, or what they may or may not be able to eat, how long it’s been since they’ve eaten, then greet them with
”No”

I rarely do reviews. When I do, I don't give 5 stars unless it's an exception because I believe when the highest score is given, it leaves no room for improvement. This time it's more than warranted because THE STAFF is EXCEPTIONAL! Yes, it appears very clean and in a way that tells me that behind the scenes, food is handled as it should be; with proper rotations, washing, storage, and especially preparation. LeAnn (please forgive if incorrect spelling), Angela, and all the other ladies we met, are genuine and take pride in what they do. I'm challenged by remembering names so I noticed, while we sat and ate, that LeAnn knew every hospital staff's name and some customers from outside! Her infectious enthusiasm for the food she creates and they prepare makes you want to order everything. They use Boar's Head cold cuts, her salads are beautiful and delicious, and they're incredibly accommodating should you want to add or omit items on your panino (panini is plural and trust me, they are substantial here!). The prices are a little more than the cafeteria but justifiably so. We wouldn't eat in a hospital cafeteria because they're not our thing but are grateful they exist for those who need their convenience of course. This café could EASILY be a standalone in Portsmouth and would be a gold mine with this staff! It would also be preferred compared to other ones in the same area. Unfortunately, here in Concord, we simply don't have any options as good as the quality of this staff's customer service and and food. My ONLY hesitation in doing this review is that too many people will go. lolThey have plenty of business, given the size of the campus. Their prices are what everything downtown should be!Thank you again Leanne (spelling? lol) and your lovely staff! Thank you for recognizing us when we return and welcoming us as if to your home! We were there during a difficult time and your infectious smile and genuine care for people distracted us in the best possible way! That's why we went back again, just to see you all and eat lunch on a Friday! Many blessings to you all!
Specialty drinks and yummy sandwiches.Dessert are pretty dam awesome.
Expensive
One of my favorite places for a quick bite. Staff is lovely, food is delicious and reasonably priced
The Karner Blue Cafe is on the second floor of the Concord Hospital, just up the rounded stairs from the main entrance lobby. They have Starbucks Coffee whereas the cafeteria has vending machine coffee. They have salads, sandwiches, fruit, snacks and other typical cafe foods. Many types of bottled drinks on sale. Some food is made to order w a couple of choices daily. Handicap friendly. Elevators available. Panoramic views. Free wifi. Smallish w a dozen tables or so but my favorite spot to sit if I'm at the hospital. Very friendly. Very clean.
Pumpkin lattes and hot apple cider are back this fall. :-)
Iced white chocolate mocha is my favorite drink
