State House Cafe totally bailed me out in a pinch. I had a work event I was supposed to bring a dish to and due a bunch of reasons, I didn't have time to cook it. I ran to this cafe the day before the event and the owner graciously agreed to make a similar dish for me, even though it wasn't on the menu. He was cautious to make sure it was allergen free for my various coworkers. I only dinged the atmosphere because the cafe is in the basement of the state house. ...
I ordered 1/2 sandwich with soup. Grilled Chs w/bacon and Tomato Cheddar soup. SO GOOD i have been wanting it ever since. I also ordered the corn chowder. i saved it for lunch the next day. I unwrapped it to find a note on the top. They were out of the chowder and replaced it with Beef n Barley (and 2 free yummy cookies). The soup smelled AMAZING! I dont eat barley but i did pick at the meat and potatoes and it was delicous.
