Founded in 1948 by a lobster fisherman, it has survived a major fire and been rebuilt into a large restaurant and bar. We started going to Newicks in 1967, and while the surroundings have changed, the quality of its food has not. This is a classic New England seafood restaurant, with a large selection from oysters to lobsters to ‘steamers’ (soft shell clams). The menu has been recently updated, but hasn’t changed that much. We started with oysters on the half shell, fresh and delicious; Newick’s traditional thick clam chowder, always good; and anew item, puffed crab Rangoon, as good as it gets according to my son. For mains, my wife had coconut shrimp, excellent. My son had Fish & Chips with a side of Calamari, done to perfection. I had the Fish & Chips as well, but with a side of clam strips. Again, excellent and the clam strips surprised me with tenderness. More than enough to take home what we didn’t eat. Good drink menu, good selection of draft beers. Excellent service. Always a great place to eat. We haven’t been disappointed in 57 years!

Came for lobster. The server had no price menu turned out — $60+for 1.25 pound $81 for 1.5 pound steamed lobster came with nothing - what??? Left went to Petey’s in Rye 1.5 pound lobster dinner complete with potato and coleslaw. $34 would never go back to

Deb was our server, and she always touched our table to inquire about our needs. Excellent service. Fish Chowder was also excellent. We ordered fried clams, haddock nuggets, shrimp, and scallops. Superb quality!

I had the thick clam chowder and the lobster stew. Both were excellent. However, the price of lobster was up in the tourist range.Wheelchair accessibility: Yes, they have ramps and wide doors.

We used to come here often for seafood. The price is fair and the food is good. The reason why we are no longer coming is because once we dined in and ordered the lobster, the waitress mislead us to order a meal with 2 lobster as she claimed that it was cheaper. But she ended up order that meal for each of us. And we ended up getting 4 lobsters in total. It was a very unpleasant experience to trick us pay more money on meals.

It's my first time visiting, and we will be back. The place is HUGE!! it must seat hundreds. We went on St. Partick's Day in the afternoon and it was busy but not full. I had the "thin" clam chowder and it was full of clams and well done. My wife loved her fish chowder. My fried bay scallop roll was full of scallops, didn't eat the roll and was stuffed. My wife got the haddock sandwich broiled and was impressed. The views are great, and the service was on time (Thanks, Karyzmah).

Excited to show my family visiting from California a New England seafood dinner. We should have checked beforehand, but price for a 1 1/4 lb lobster plate was over $60...double what it is at other local places. We chose other food options. The clam chowder was good, clam strips OK. Fish and chips was not good...way too fishy and mediocre fries. Very watery lobster meat on salad didn't seem fresh. View of the river was lovely, waitress was friendly, and a great sunset. Paper plates, cups, and plastic utensils created a lot of waste and detracted from the experience. Bathrooms were filthy. There are plenty of better options out there.

This is a place I would drive for. I had the scallops and clam strips. They were cooked perfectly and plentiful. Make sure to bring your appetite, the portions are huge! My husband had the fish and chips and he had 6 filets of fish!! The blueberry cobbler is amazing!!It is a very casual atmosphere, so come as you are. They only do reservations for parties of 20 or more, but they have plenty of room. This is a fantastic place for seafood!!

Horrible service. Disgusting bathrooms - filthy. For the price, they should be serving food on something other than paper plates and plastic utensils.
