Good southern cooking and good quality. I really need to get back there to try more stuff. It tasted great some of these reviews are a little unfair. The owner seems like a really kind person and this place deserves a chance by everyone. I adore the decor inside. My one suggestion to the owner, maybe put a nice little sign up at the entrance telling people to seat themselves or wait to be seated, and offer some fountain sodas too maybe like Diet Coke and regular Coke products etc.Regardless, this place is awesome. A hidden gem!

Very good food and coffee! Especially the white chocolate raspberry latte! Everything I’ve gotten here has been very luscious. Another wonderful addition to the great breakfast spots in the Dover-Portsmouth area! Definitely worth a visit.Vegetarian options: Haven’t ordered strictly vegetarian items, but they have them.Dietary restrictions: They have a whole sheet detailing the dietary restrictions they can accommodate.

Below average honestly. The waitress wasn't to attentive. I like the inside and the idea so have sub par food made me really sad. They COULDN'T do egg white!? What breakfast place doesn't do egg white? The biscuit was smaller than my palm. And if you get the vegetarian kitchen sink it doesn't come with gravy! I've had some amazing vegan white gravy; I know it's possible to make. I understand they use sausage but there are so many vegetarian sausages out there (could have been warned this is how my meal would come out).

My friend and I came in here for brunch on a Sunday while I was visiting from out of town. We were told it would be a bit of a wait, which we were fine with and expected. The hostess was very apologetic and kind, and we were in no rush at all.I wanted to order the mimosa flight but was told it was unavailable. I'm not sure whether the waitress said they do or don't serve it only on weekends, but either way I was confused. Instead, I picked the Montana-Mosa, which was very delicious. My friend ordered a couple Dude-Mosas and seemed to like them.I ordered The Kitchen Sink and my friend ordered The Southerner Johnson Style. We were warned the food could be a bit as they were getting caught back up. Unfortunately, when our food came, my friend was given my dish and I was given a dish that wasn't anything we ordered. We did have to wait for his dish to be remade, which did come quickly, thankfully. Good drop biscuits, and my dish was a good mix of potatoes and veg. I did very much like the gravy. My friend seemed to enjoy his dish as well as he took the leftovers to go. With reasonable prices and a full menu, I would consider making a return stop here.

Good food. Not what I expected. I thought I ordered a bacon, egg & cheese on a biscuit. Was good. Small biscuit. Kind of dry

Our waitress was very nice, but unfortunately got our drink order wrong twice. It was awkward to have to request our drinks twice when we said hot coffee and she kept delivering iced. I used to dine here when it was self service and now that it’s dine in it’s severely unorganized. We sat at the table right next to the host stand, and it was an awkward table to be at because people who were waiting to dine in were physically close, both standing and sitting at the window seat behind us. Since there was a wait to dine in, people had no where to gather without it being right next to our table. Half the time the host was busy clearing tables or cleaning so people would walk by the stand and ignore that it’s dine in. It’s understandable because it went from self service to dine in, so people naturally walk past it if they don’t know about the update. Because of short staffing, it makes it limited for sit down service and wait times, which is why I don’t understand why it’s run this way now. The self service was way better, and made for a more pleasant experience. I used to really enjoy coming here when it was self serve because the food came out quickly, and turn around on flipping tables were faster. Adding in needing waitresses and a host means more staffing, and slower turn around times, both for food and drink. Lastly the home fries are consistently undercooked every time I dine here and it’s disappointing. Unfortunately won’t be dining here again, and wish I could give this a better review but I can’t.

Great spot to sit at the bar and enjoy a well seasoned meal, alongside a craft cocktail. Just as great of a spot to stop in on your morning commute to grab a coffee & a breakfast sandwich.Dietary restrictions: They have delicious gluten free & vegan biscuits.

I’m a Florida girl and when I brunch, it includes grits! I decided to explore my options and came across a Black owned business that offers southern inspired cuisine. I ordered the Louisiana Purchase of course (shrimp & grits) with a side of scrambled eggs, and my partner ordered the Kitchen skillet with Mac n cheese. This was my first time having blue grits but to my surprise they were made well, the biscuit was pretty good; my plate was left clean. The portions are very reasonable for the price, we spent under $65 for both meals and mimosa’s. The home fries in the Kitchen Skillet are more like fries, not his favorite. He still enjoyed the meal and loved the cheese used in the Mac. We traveled from Manchester and we were surprised to see it lacked any diversity, but nonetheless we came to eat and I enjoyed the food!Parking: We were lucky and found a spot right out front as others were leaving.

5 stars all around for the Sassy Biscuit. Amazing biscuits that transported me back to my southern roots. Some of the best waffle/ syrup combinations I've ever tasted. The fried chicken was delicious, the drinks divine, & the service top notch. Our whole family loved every minute of the adventure & it was worth the hour plus trip from Gloucester. I can't wait to bring more people back next time we go.Kid-friendliness: We took our 3 year old son & he loved it. He got juice & water to drink, eggs & a waffle for himself, & he shared some bacon. When he got antsy we walked around the block or we looked at the art in the restaurant. The staff even brought caryons & paper for him.

We are visiting New England and wanted to try the Sassy Biscuit. It did not disappoint! Cute location, friendly service and delicious food! I had the "cobbler". A waffle with blueberries and lemon. So yummy! My husband had biscuits and gravy. He loved it, especially with their mango hot sauce.

The food is bleck!!!! Will not eat here again. The waitress staff were standing around playing with there cell phones, very put off by this. They didn't even ask why we didn't eat the food. I got the southerner it had a weird taste on the home fries, I ate about 3 bites off the chicken. My husband had. Biscuits and gravy. Biscuit was dry and cold and the gravy had sage in it. Yuck ?.

Not my type of food, scrambled eggs had some type of herb, potatoes too much pepper and too many other spices, bacon was sweet tasting so I only was only able to eat the toast. The server was slow and not well trained. They didn’t even have any jelly for the toast. The other two people with me also did not like the food.A little pricey as well. $52 for 3 of us and we had to go else where to eat cause we were still hungry since we didn’t eat the food.

Well the ambiance was nice the food gross and overratedMimosa not worth it and not memorable I believe if the cooks could eat southern food they would understand the error of their ways so the main chef needs to explore southern cuisine further I'm from Tennessee I was born in Texas and definitely Southern this was not Southern and it wasn't very good the girls that work there were pleasant the environment was nice
