This is our new favorite “go to”. We started going here about a year ago and have not had a bad meal yet! Great bar atmosphere. Dave is the best!!! We have met some great people there on Friday nights. Highly recommend giving it a try.

We enjoy the food here, however it's always cold. Not comfortable for enjoying a good meal! I was in a hurry to leave because of the temperature!
We had a wonderful dining experience at this restaurant. I ordered the filet mignon, which was cooked to perfection and tasted incredible. My boyfriend opted for the braised short rib, which was equally delicious. The service was exceptional, with a friendly and attentive staff that made us feel very welcome. We were treated exceptionally well and plan to return for another date night.
Our 2nd visit in a couple weeks. Chef Jose and his team did not disappoint. Michelle our server was on point. We will be back!
A delightful surprise—Hagan's exceeded all expectations. We are local but never visited before, unaware of the ample parking tucked behind the building. What a pleasant discovery!! Portsmouth's dining scene is woefully uninspiring lately—too many pub-style menus, too few memorable meals. But Hagan's stands head and shoulders above the rest. We went on a Tuesday, and even then, the experience was exceptional. The chef personally came out to ask for feedback which we feel added genuine care. Each of us ordered a different entree: the lemon cream haddock, braised short ribs, and shrimp Florentine. All were beautifully prepared and paired perfectly with their wine selections. We left impressed, satisfied, and are planning our return :)) Highly recommend!
Hagan’s Grill sits right on Route 1 in Hampton Falls, New Hampshire, a cozy local spot known for blending neighborhood comfort with creative cooking. The dining room mixes wood tones and soft lighting, giving it the kind of warm, easygoing feel that suits everything from date nights to casual dinners after a day of antiquing nearby.

Raw undercooked coconut shrimp. Buffalo chicken was not good. Haddock did not taste fresh, a bit of ammonia taste to it. Asparagus was olive color and tasted canned and was not good. Desserts did not taste homemade, were very average.
Chef Jose made the very best Butternut Squash soup that warmed from the inside out. The shrimp was divine, too. Jenn was a very attentive and kind server. The night was a real treat!

Specifically asked for a standard table when we made the reservation over the phone and was sat at a high top upon arrival. We asked to move to a standard table and was given one in the middle of a walkway which tilted so bad the water splashed out of the glasses. When we asked if they could stabilize the table our waitress grumpily declared it wasn't intended to be used and that was why it was unstable but that she would try. We went back to the high top without complaint and ordered 2 drinks. We sat (party of 2) for 30 minutes with just water on the table. It was a Friday night so we were prepared to be patient but when our waitress took the food order of a 4-top who had been sat after us and then the food order of an 8-top that had also been sat after us we realized we wouldn't be eating until well after an hour after our arrival. Considering our drink order hadn't arrived in 30 minutes and the waitress seemed content to ignore us completely, we left.
We loved ur experience at Hagens. It was made perfectly by our excellent wait gal Margarita (sp). We will return especially after the Chef Jose promised to put “Chicken Uber the brick” back on the menu

This restaurant is a GEM. We consistently get 5-star service, 5-star Meals, and the pricing is WAY better than any restaurant in downtown Portsmouth. You can also make a reservation on Open-Table, which I really appreciate! The atmosphere is intimate and great for conversations. They make a lot of things from scratch here, which is important to me. Plenty of free parking nearby. We are foodies and have been coming here for years and we’re never disappointed.

As always, Hagan's Grill delivers a perfect meal with 5-star service in an intimate atmosphere. This restaurant is a GEM. We often bow out of going to Portsmouth and come here instead for a delicious meal, a great wine selection, and a more affordable price. Plenty of free parking nearby. Never disappoints! Highly recommend.
Great dinner! Had the Special which was fabulous! As were the cocktails!

My husband's fish and chips were good but lacked salt. My steak was accompanied by loose mashed potatoes and undercooked steamed broccoli. Wines by the glass were lackluster and limited. Filthy windows and tacky icicle lights were ruinous of ambiance. Having read about a commitment to being GF I was sad to hear that anything fried was cross-contaminated. S I was underwhelmed and will not be returning. Service was very good, but lacked wine knowledge.
We were a party of 4 on August 21st. Having been there before the remodel we were very pleased with everything so were looking forward to our dinner. The food was horrible....small potatoes obviously pre-cooked or from another day...they forgot that green beans came with meal....quickly they put4 bags in microwave and they were hard and could not be enjoyed. The pork chops were so tough the steak knife could not slice. What has happened ? The check was over $300 yet NO PRICES FOR EACH MEAL WERE not shown.... Waitress was very apologetic and we tipped her graciously as she did not cook food... why no rolls or butter with meal.
