Specifically asked for a standard table when we made the reservation over the phone and was sat at a high top upon arrival. We asked to move to a standard table and was given one in the middle of a walkway which tilted so bad the water splashed out of the glasses. When we asked if they could stabilize the table our waitress grumpily declared it wasn't intended to be used and that was why it was unstable but that she would try. We went back to the high top without complaint and ordered 2 drinks. We sat (party of 2) for 30 minutes with just water on the table. It was a Friday night so we were prepared to be patient but when our waitress took the food order of a 4-top who had been sat after us and then the food order of an 8-top that had also been sat after us we realized we wouldn't be eating until well after an hour after our arrival. Considering our drink order hadn't arrived in 30 minutes and the waitress seemed content to ignore us completely, we left.
We loved ur experience at Hagens. It was made perfectly by our excellent wait gal Margarita (sp). We will return especially after the Chef Jose promised to put “Chicken Uber the brick” back on the menu
As always, Hagan's Grill delivers a perfect meal with 5-star service in an intimate atmosphere. This restaurant is a GEM. We often bow out of going to Portsmouth and come here instead for a delicious meal, a great wine selection, and a more affordable price. Plenty of free parking nearby. Never disappoints! Highly recommend.
Great dinner! Had the Special which was fabulous! As were the cocktails!

My husband's fish and chips were good but lacked salt. My steak was accompanied by loose mashed potatoes and undercooked steamed broccoli. Wines by the glass were lackluster and limited. Filthy windows and tacky icicle lights were ruinous of ambiance. Having read about a commitment to being GF I was sad to hear that anything fried was cross-contaminated. S I was underwhelmed and will not be returning. Service was very good, but lacked wine knowledge.
We were a party of 4 on August 21st. Having been there before the remodel we were very pleased with everything so were looking forward to our dinner. The food was horrible....small potatoes obviously pre-cooked or from another day...they forgot that green beans came with meal....quickly they put4 bags in microwave and they were hard and could not be enjoyed. The pork chops were so tough the steak knife could not slice. What has happened ? The check was over $300 yet NO PRICES FOR EACH MEAL WERE not shown.... Waitress was very apologetic and we tipped her graciously as she did not cook food... why no rolls or butter with meal.

Was pretty good overall. Not much for a kids place, there wasn't even a kids menu it was just told to us what they could do. Oldest ordered the delmonico steak & was very balky with it. The fish for the fish & chips was pretty small.
Pleasant enough but thought the food was uninspired, wine prices very reasonable and staff pleasant
Delicious mocktails available, which I enjoyed. Great food and friendly service. A neighborhood gem that's always reliably delicious.
Stumbled on this place during a visit to the area, food was great and liked the menu choices. The atmosphere was nice, all around a great place to check out if you're heading towards the coast.

The staff was amazing. The chef was amazing. I got the Delmonico steak. It was cooked perfectly Doria the owner is always there and she’s very friendly and attentive to all of her guest. She’s such a hard worker you must check this place out.

Hagan's Grill is a popular local spot. The atmosphere is cozy. The tables are well separated. Nice bar area. I had the vegetable stir fry with the noodles. Other than the hard to eat, what I believe was a sun dried tomato, the sauce was good and the other veggies were okay. My wife had the fish and chips, which she said was like a hockey puck. We have had the fish and chips before at Hagan's and it was excellent, so maybe we were just unlucky the other night. They had a special for a 12 oz. Pork chop that I was going to get until I heard the price. I figured i could cook a pork chop on my grill for probably 2 bucks and I wasn't going to fork over 38. If you haven't been, I would suggest that you give them a try. Not everybody has the same taste buds and pocketbook. You just might love it, we have in the past and might again in the future.

Service was excellent from the greeting upon arrival until the final goodbye. The food was also exceptional. Overall, a great experience
We really enjoyed Hagan's Grill, high quality food. Lolipop Lamb chops were to die for, Our Halibut was cooked to perfection. The chef made me mash potatoes instead of the sweet potato sausage hash under the Halibut because I had mouth surgery. The mango chutney sauce was very tasty and not too sweet, delicious! My husband said his hash was so delicious. Michelle our server did a great job checking up on us. She suggested a very mild red wine for us because we're not really drinkers. For dessert GF choc. Lava cake was placed with a small scoop of vanilla icecream next to it with a few berries nicely topped within. My husbands creme brûlée was divine. A great place to eat with top notch food. Thank you Michelle for such great service. We will return again soon.
Our meals came out cold like it had been sitting for a while. They did try to make it right but the new meal came out well after others had finished. The fish was bland and uninspiring. This was our second bad experience and will not be returning.
