Was pretty good overall. Not much for a kids place, there wasn't even a kids menu it was just told to us what they could do. Oldest ordered the delmonico steak & was very balky with it. The fish for the fish & chips was pretty small.

We really enjoyed Hagan's Grill, high quality food. Lolipop Lamb chops were to die for, Our Halibut was cooked to perfection. The chef made me mash potatoes instead of the sweet potato sausage hash under the Halibut because I had mouth surgery. The mango chutney sauce was very tasty and not too sweet, delicious! My husband said his hash was so delicious. Michelle our server did a great job checking up on us. She suggested a very mild red wine for us because we're not really drinkers. For dessert GF choc. Lava cake was placed with a small scoop of vanilla icecream next to it with a few berries nicely topped within. My husbands creme brûlée was divine. A great place to eat with top notch food. Thank you Michelle for such great service.We will return again soon.

We had a wonderful waitress who checked in with us and offered her opinions (because I asked) about the restaurant's calamari and lobster bisque. Both were as she described and were delicious! The restaurant is really nice with attention to detail, even having hairspray, etc, for guests to use in their very clean bathroom. I was surprised they charge for each soda we had. Most restaurant's charge for just one non alcoholic beverage and we can order another without additional cost. The noise level was louder because there was a very vocal person talking at a table in the middle of the room. Maybe he was hard of hearing and didn't realize his conversation could be heard throughout the restaurant??? Certainly nothing the staff could do. I had the lettuce wedge salad with the lobster bisque. Both are very good. My husband had the steak, mashed potatoes and broccoli. Also very good. I want to try their haddock next visit. Im so glad the for open table app because though this restaurant has been there for 18 years, this was the first I'd heard of it. And we will be back!!!

Limited menu. Food was underwhelming. Had ribs with blueberry barbecue sauce that was like I hop syrup. Scallops in bacon drenched in maple syrup. A theme? Not many seafood offerings. The bartender was pleasant.

Little disappointing the menu not changed with the seasons (butternut squash and Brussel sprouts in July?), seems like they could try harder. Summer Ingredients are easy to highlight and can make a menu feel fresh.

We loved it. The swordfish special was the best swordfish we'd ever eaten, so tender and flavorful. The staff was friendly, the chef was amazing.

Chef came out to us to see how our meal was. Told him we left NOTHING on the plate, neither one of us. Not a CRUMB! I usually leave a little something to take home. I couldn’t stop eating. DELICIOUS. Mike and I always have a great experience at Hagans! We love Michelle she is great! I usually get the roasted chicken but got the Haddock with lemon and was delicious!! My French Martini was delicious too! Mike hot the short ribs and he enjoyed his meal as well!! One of our favorite spots!!

We had an absolutely delicious meal. Better than many of the meals we've had in more popular downtown Portsmouth. The service was excellent and prompt. The chef came out to see how our meals were which we always appreciate.
