Serving size has decreased. The food is still excellent but it is difficult to take a Dartmouth athlete student to dinner and not have to order many plates. Love the atmosphere.
Just returned from dinner at Pine. Wonderful evening. As my daughter said, the "vibe" was exactly what you'd hope for in a restaurant in this setting...energy was great in the room. The food was extremely good (two pasta dishes, a soup and an app), although the portion sizes were really too much (not much of a complaint, but I feel guilty wasting food). The standout of the night, however, was our waiter, John. I say "waiter" rather than "server" because he truly embodied the old school spirit of the professional waiter....something you don't experience too often any more. I can safely say I've dined out a few thousand times (probably much more) and I am prepared to crown John as the finest waiter I have ever had. Kind, informative, unpretentious, attentive...I can't say enough good things. Well done, Pine, and bravo, John!
We dined here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We have not been here in some time. The experience did NOT disappoint.
From the moment we arrived, we were promptly greeted, wished a happy anniversary & seated.
They have a nice wine list to choose from. We shared truffle parmesan fries to start. For entrees, we chose the cauliflower puttanesca, which was amazing. Beautifully plated, with vibrant flavors that made this shine. We also chose the braised shortrib, which was accompanied by creamy parmesan potato gnocchi. This was equally delicious.
What really set this dining experience apart was the service. Taking note that we were there to celebrate a special occasion, acknowledging it by the host, server, and then the manager was an extra special touch. We were given a complimentary dessert ( a decadent chocolate cake) that was served/plated with a message of happy anniversary wishes. Nice touch, Pine! ;)
We could have chosen to celebrate at a variety of restaurants in the area, but we were both very satisfied that we ended here for the beautiful surroundings, delicious food & attention to detail/service we received.
We will be returning for sure.

Beautiful place with an incredible atmosphere… it’s a shame that the food was sub par at best. My husband and I ordered the share plate of cauliflower. This was lovely and flavorful but it was all downhill from there. My lamb Wagyu meatballs were tepid and flavorless. The pear salad, with a few teeny pears (also flavorless— how is that even possible?) was served under a massive amount of greens that was topped by a slice of prosciutto that tasted like leather. The deep fried cheese balls on the plate were as tepid as my meatballs and the chicken dish (over a bed of pasta) that my husband ordered. He didn’t seem bothered by the fact that the food appeared to have sat for a good 20 minutes before being delivered to our table. The drinks were good and that is the only thing I’d recommend going here for. Save your money for a better meal elsewhere.
So 430, Monday afternoon. Stopped in for a cocktail. Our server Milton was amazing thank you. We ordered the marinated olives plate as a nosh while we were having our drinks. It was clearly evident (see photo) that these were chopped pimento stuffed bar olives with a few pitted Kalamata olives thrown in for contrast. Very much less than I would expect from this particular bar and restaurant. Can’t recommend it now. Thanks.
We lucked into the Pine by accident, and had no idea how wonderful it would be. Our server Matt G was hilarious but also perfect about every absurd detail our family members imposed on him. He brought extra iced tea/lemonade in a pitcher without even asking, The hamburger and pear/brie salad were terrific. Unlike other dining options in the middle of the Dartmouth campus, we could make lunch reservations here and it wasn't too noisy to hear each other. Location, wait time, value, all excellent too. We are coming back again soon!
Best restaurant in Hanover.

Waited over 45 minutes for our food for breakfast; bacon was burnt and so was one of my pancakes ; poached eggs were overcooked; hash browns also burnt!

Delicious dishes. Great service. We went on a Friday evening at the end of August, and it was packed. We made a reservation ahead of the time, and we were glad we did. Salmon and Halibut were both fabulous, and the desserts (chocolate moose and keylime tart) were excellent as well! It was our wedding anniversary, and they gave us a signed card and two tickets for complimentary drinks for future. 👍

A good place for a comfortable lunch but the menu, which rarely changes, is rather limited and, for vegetarians at least, nothing stands out. Service is always good even though the new management (Dartmouth no longer runs it) fired our longtime favorites several months ago. We go primarily because it is convenient and comfortable.

Very easy going vibe. Food was great. Took a client here - the crab cakes were legit and the clam chowder was good and well portioned. Service was attentive and professional and top notch. (Brandon!). It’s attached to the Inn and the prices reflect hotel restaurant pricing but I’ll be back.

We stay at the Hannover Inn very often and eat at Pine every time. The menu hasn’t changed in e very long time and the previous menu was so much better than the current one. The food was better before, not much seasoning lately. It’d be nice to see new dishes more often, even bringing back the previous menu that was so good!! The service outside has been awful, the waiters disappear on us, which is a completely different experience we have when we sit inside where the service is always great.
