First time at T.H.E. and I can’t wait to go back. The staff was very friendly, the setting was very inviting (they’re welcoming us into their home) and the food was spectacular. We loved the balanced cocktails and the cheese board was very tasty. Service was top notch and the energy and teamwork of the staff made the whole experience even better.

One of the best meals I have had in a long time. Celebrating my Fiancées birthday and we decided to skip desert. They melted the bottom of a candle, stuck it to a plate and brought it out. Small gesture that went above and beyond.

5 stars across the board. A must stop if you are in the white mountain region. Cocktails are great, service, food from apps to desserts all 5 stars. Thompson House is always a highlight of our stays in the North Conway area. Best food in the area!

Very good food, server was great. Would definitely recommend going and will be back. Their commitment to local sourcing and farm-to-table menu items is excellent. 5-10 years ago, this experience would have merited 5 stars. In the modern world of fine dining, you truly need to execute exceptionally across the board. Great food can be found anywhere and there is no shortage of talented chefs and cooks. I'm in full support of the auto-gratuity, but the 7% "infrastructure" surcharge is not a good look. Just raise the food pricing. The James Beard award is great, but as a frequent diner at fine dining restaurants, only the pesto and beet cake dessert special were exceptional.

I have visited this restaurant several times and have always enjoyed their bolognese. However, during my recent visit, the food and service were very disappointing. My husband and I dined there in November 2023 and were well aware of an automatic 20% gratuity and a 7% infrastructure fee. Unfortunately, the waiter was not as attentive as he had been on our previous visits. We brought to his attention that my husband's pork was cold, but he simply walked away without apologizing and said he would inform the chef. He returned after 7 minutes and asked if we wanted the dinner reheated. By that time, my husband had lost his appetite and we were disappointed by the lack of apology and to try and make it right. I am not sure if this establishment is under new management, but for the price of the food and the quality of the wait staff, we will not be returning.

I rarely write reviews, but felt compelled to share my experience. While my experience was okay, it was certainly not exceptional. Our food was good, but not inspired like you see from other James Beard restaurants, nor did the portion size/use of top ingredients fit the price. Plus, food descriptions were lacking/misleading. The value from the evening missed the mark.

I recently dined at Thompson House Eatery and unfortunately had an incredibly disappointing experience. While the setting and the friendliness of the hostess were positives, the overall encounter left much to be desired. The waitress insisted on ordering appetizers, emphasizing the farm-to-table concept. We opted for the highest-priced appetizers she recommended, only to find the portions underwhelming. The shared salad was unsatisfactory, and the suggestion of bread service that was made to sound complimentary added to the frustration. The main dishes, Bolognese and carbonara, were a major letdown. My carbonara was inundated with an excessive amount of black pepper, rendering it inedible. Despite expressing my dissatisfaction, the response was far from accommodating. A suggestion to drown out the pepper with Parmesan cheese was offered. To add insult to injury, the bill included unexpected charges for the bread and cheese that were initially suggested as complimentary. The mandatory 20% gratuity seemed excessive, especially given the lackluster service. The final blow was a 7% property and infrastructure fee, leaving me baffled and frustrated.Upon requesting to speak to the manager, I was met with a dismissive attitude, claiming all sales were final. The experience felt like a scam, and I regret falling for what seemed like a highly-rated establishment. After revisiting reviews, it became apparent that the restaurant's decline coincided with new ownership. I urge others to check recent reviews and reconsider dining here. It's disheartening to witness a once-solid establishment spiral under new management.Avoid Thompson House Eatery at all costs, as my experience suggests it may not live up to its previous reputation.

The pork shop and brussels sprouts were delicious. However, the potatoes were raw. Disappointed to get raw potatoes for a $43 meal.

This restaurant doesn't know how to make a bad bite. Everything, including foods I typically don't like, were absolutely scrumptious. I typically don't like pears, asparagus, or cauliflower but they were all flavorful in ways I would never expect and would happily eat them again. I can say they made my favorite version of all three. My ahi tuna was perfect and my husband's steak was seared to absolute perfection served with a delicious jus-like sauce (my husband isn't a fan of sauces but mopped it up with the steak and sides it was so good). The cheese board was the best we ever had. The chocolate bar was luxurious and served with the lime caramel was to die for, as was the pear, apple cider, and marscapone dessert my husband ate.Zoe, our waitress, was as equally a part of our experience as the food was. She was not only knowledgeable about the menu and ingredients but knew how to describe the flavor of the dishes in a way that would make your mouth water. I'm confident she could sell bolognese to someone with a tomato allergy. She is passionate not only about food but about the restaurant itself and I'm sure if she stays in the restaurant industry she will excel in leaps and bounds. She made great recommendations, including combinations I had never heard of (blue cheese and honey) and was very accommodating and professional. Will be coming back here every time we're in the area.

Celebrating our anniversary was very special at the Thompson house. Vinny was extremely accommodating to our table's allergy , and the general manager was very attentive and extremely kind. The food was elegant and plating was purposeful. We cannot wait to go back with our friends!

Always our favorite Valley restaurant. Always have a fabulous meal, super friendly. We love sitting in the bar area, but they have a great little room if you are going with a larger group. This is our go to spot when friends are up, when we have a celebration or anytime we just need a really good meal. Jeff is an amazing chef, Trevor is the friendliest bartender, and Kate and Kiah (sp?) give the warmest greeting. Don't miss out!

The place and service are nice. Food is very mediocre and it is overpriced and overrated. we were a party of six . We took a cheese board to share as appetizer . we got three tiny pieces of cheese , a few crackers and a splash of jam on the side. we added a chicken pate and some kimchi side to it. price tag for the board with the 2 extras : $47. As entrees , one took the pasta dish . it looked like a kids' menu pasta dish with a very dull taste .The bolognese was almost invisible on it. ($36) The 5 others went for the pork chops ($42). The pork was undercooked and super hard. the sides with the pork were 'army style' white beans and some sweet potatoes purée. The wines are extremely pricey for very mediocre quality wines. Be aware that they also automatically add a 7% service fee and 20% tip to the check. We will not return to that place.
