It's a shame that the management doesn't have a tighter grasp on the operations of the Lancaster location. I've never heard of a food service location closing up at 5:30 in the evening, but here they are. The food is pretty good if you can actually talk to a staff member to purchase it. God forbid they stick around and finish a shift.

Over-priced chicken and not exactly the best flavor but that's just my opinion. The staff is at least friendly as is the staff of the gas station it is in.

I was really skeptical when I pull up on this jawn because the gas station/fried chicken/Portuguese deli trifecta. BUT, the chicken wasn't half bad! Good sauces make it nice. Chicken was a lil left out but it was satisfying. Only con is the soda from the fountain tasted like dish water. Especially the Mountain Dew. Go to chesters it's bomb.

Maybe my standards are too high for fried chicken/donor kebab places inside of gas stations in small town NH. Or maybe the food I just had was truly terrible. The rundown. My two piece chicken meal came with two sides, a biscuit and a drink. The drink was a styrofoam cup and a self serve island with no ice. The biscuit was no longer a biscuit, but more of a dried out, floury crouton. My side options were all starches and no vegetables. I chose mash and mac. The mash was absolutely terrible. It was dry, crusty and had these big dry tapioca like lumps in it. And the gravy on top had about an inch thick layer of film on it. The mac and cheese was a deteriorated paste of mild flavored cheese. Again, terrible. The chicken. Oh the chicken. I ordered white meat and got one breast and a tiny crispy wing. The wing was overcooked and had little meat on it. The breast was better, but that wasn't very hard to do. It left alot to be desired. This place should not have a Chester's logo on it.
My partner is a huge fan of Chester Fried Chicken, and has been known to go out of his way to find one. This one we found completely by accident while driving randomly by. We stopped and were really impressed. Very nice set-up and full complement of sides. We got four chicken tenders and two sides (mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese). I'm on a diet so I was good and had one piece of chicken and cheated by then eating the biscuit. It was delicious. Lightly fried and just a hint of pepper. The sides looked okay, and certainly got eaten so they must have tasted good. Great price for the amount of food. We may have to make a side trip in the near future to get more of that chicken!
