On our way to the Vermont Country Store, we stopped for lunch at the Weathervane in W. Lebanon, NH. There was a bit of a wait due, it seemed, to a lack of waitstaff, since there were plenty of empty tables/booths. Not a problem, we waited. We know how good the food is at "The Vane", and it did not disappoint, nor did the service of Landon, our waitperson. He was right on the mark, checking with us occasionally to be sure we were satisfied. In all it was a very nice experience, and when in that area we will return.

The food was fine. Our waiter was great. We had a voucher for 2 free lobster dinners and when it came time for the check, John, the “manager,” told us we could not get a receipt and tried to make us pay based on what he said the amount was verbally. We said that wasn’t possible because we wanted to see the itemized amount. He threatened to call the PD on us and told my 14 year old that we weren’t welcome there anymore. He stared us down while we did the math to make sure we weren’t overpaying. His staff was also scared of him and tried to take over knowing how much of a hot head he is. He was a very disrespectful human who does not deserve his position of a manager when he treats people the way he does. We called corporate, waiting for a call back.

We live about 100 miles away but we always go to the Weathervane when we are in the area. The food is not fancy but it is tasty seafood in a setting where you can bring the whole family. My wife loves the belly clams, our youngest loves the lobster mac and cheese, I like to try something different each time.

We went on Saturday at 1pm for my husband and his twin sisters birthday. There was 8 of us..Each of us traveled a hour and a half to get there...place is rundown..at 1pm no paper towels in the ladies bathroom...only been open since 11:30 and have 2 dispensers...the waiter was nice but made us hand down drinks, silverware, plates, appetizers, dinners ourselves instead of doing it himself.Bar drinks were slow even though they new it was a twin birthday party....appetizers came out quick..not hard to fry mozzarella sticks and onion rings...was told lunch would be out in 10 mi minutes after the apps.was more like 35 minutes....hair in the lobster mac and cheese and under cooked scallops...sent both back and when scallops came back out was told this batch of scallops was cooked but the kitchen said for some reason they are not turning white Inside..my guess is frozen but took them home and threw them out...the lazy lobster was good until the last piece that I split with my sister In law...total mush and we both simultaneously grabbed our napkins and spit it out...and the prices outrageous! Over 50 for twin 1 pd lobster, 38 for full belly class, with less than stunner sides....would never come again...they did remove the lobster mac and cheese from the bill....still 450 for 8 of us with 6 alcohol drinks

I’m a United States Army vet and I went in on Saturday afternoon, Veterans Day. I sat at the bar and when the tender came over I asked her for one of the veteran specials off the board. At which point she asked me if I was a vet. Odd…but I replied yes. Then she asked to see my ID…again fine.. I removed it ( my military VA card) gave it to her and she gave it a good 20-25 second review. she handed it back and took my order. Great, a little rude, but it was for a free meal Which I was thankful for. I also ordered another entree off the menu for my wife. Not long after two couples came in and sat to my left and right and they too were vets. The first, hearing her conversation with me removed his Id and when she came over tried to hand it to her. at which point she replied with ”you’re good. I don’t need it” This scenario repeated with the couple on my right. now…I’m admittedly a fat guy who no longer resembles my soldier days but this was VERY insulting! she must have assumed the fat guy was there for a free meal and I couldn’t possibly be a soldier. I can’t figure out any other reason why this happened. I was a Combat Engineer in the US Army for years and I’ll now have a difficult time ever using my benefits again Or going back there. This was never about the ID..I get it..but either ask everyone or noone.. don’t use your silly opinions and assumptions on people. Sincerely M. Viens

I’m just gonna say ok, 3 soups, 2 $5.99 appetizers, lobster roll, stuffed seafood combo and everyone had water (no drinks) or dessert and it was over $100. The lobster roll was good but small. Soup was ehh, had better. The wings were just ok, the seafood platter $38 was ok but the seafood stuffing was all cracker and bread filling and very dry and flavorless. Stuffed shrimp was also bland. Also the women’s bathroom was not very clean and the windows need a good cleaning. It was diner level food at best maybe even a step below. You’ll see from my other reviews that I’m not fussy so this review was my honest opinion of the place and the general consensus of the group. Sorry I don’t like writing negative reviews but the food could have been better for the price.

Lobster and the sides with it were delicious as expected, but I felt a bit unwelcome from the service. It was hard to get my server's attention, and when I finally managed it, I was handed the check without being asked if I wanted anything else. Sadly I did originally want dessert. I suppose I could have insisted on the dessert menu, but the unwelcome feeling stuck to me so I just paid and left. They weren't busy at all at the time, so I don't see the need to rush customers. This was very different from my earlier experience at a different restaurant in this chain.
