It's tough to find great Mexican food this far from Mexico. Alas de Frida does a great job of taking your palate on vacation to the heart of Mexico. Their menu is filled with all of your favorites as well as traditional dishes you only find down south.

Beware, their food can be more spicy than you may be used to and their servers have a higher tolerance for spice and may not be able to offer advice on heat.

The Noodle Birria is my favorite...
My husband and I were in town for the afternoon, and I’m a little disappointed that a local recommendation led us here. The cocktails were fine, not bad, but nothing memorable. Unfortunately, the food was just okay. Most of it lacked flavor, and the queso tasted either burnt or a bit past its prime. We were also charged $9 for the queso, even though the menu listed it at $5.

We were especially excited to see cochinita pibil on the menu. It’s one of our favorites...
