When I tell you this is the worse Chinese food I’ve had, I mean it. Was feeling a little run down and I figured I’d get something on the lighter side. We ordered chicken and rice soup, wonton soup, beef on a stick, and scallion pancakes.

First, the beef on a stick (literally thrown directly into the trash) was absolutely rank. It tasted like freezer burnt sewage. It was thick, tough, and sinewy. It was literally the nastiest piece of beef I’ve ever had. Downright inedible. No sauce on it either. It literally tasted like unseasoned boiled beef.

The wonton soup was fine.. well the broth was at least. The wontons were mushy and unfortunately the beef inside was pretty strange tasting as well.

The chicken and rice soup was mediocre at best. The broth was fine but the chicken was crunchy from bad butchering. It was mostly sinew and thick pieces of tendon. It was difficult to choke down.

The scallion pancakes were pretty bad. They were likely fried at a low temperature as they were just saturated with oil. They were also fairly slimy. I am convinced the reviews for this place is fake as this was quite literally one of the worst Chinese food experiences I’ve ever had

Oi! In New Hampshire, the only Chinese cuisine you can find is the kind that heavily leans towards Chinese American. After being traumatized by Tea Garden, Dragon Star, Beijing & Tokyo, and Man Yee (well, Man Yee was alright), gotta say, this is the best place. Very very nice service, many TVs (for a Jeopardy! enthusiast like me I was rather pleased). Oh, also for someone who likes the stuff on the lighter side of things, if you request less oil and salt, they do indeed do that, just make sure to ask for lighter sauce too XDXD.
Still, go here if you wanna semblance of actual Chinese cuisine! Beats the other places in NH.

I feel a little taken advantage of by them. I ordered the lunch shrimp and vegetables. There were 5 medium shrimp and an abundance of Vegetables. For $15? Completely ripped off.

food was fast to receive and delicious! they politely sat us while we waited for food. The server completely saved us from an uncomfortable encounter with a customer. would give 10 stars if I could!!!!! thank you so much!!!!!<3

My new love for duck sauce started here, like wow, me and my parnter entered and immediately got seated, rhe waitress was very nice and explained and cleared up the menu items. The atmosphere was nice, and it was very wonderful seeing the inside, the food was DELICIOUS, and served very well, would go and drive another 1.5 hours just to go dine again!

Favorite Chinese/sushi in Manchester. Great staff that make an effort to connect with you. I mean this place lives off its regulars because of how amazing their staff treats them!

All day specials with the won tong soup is amazing. Chicken and broccoli, crispy chicken, Buddha roll, spicy any type roll, scallion pancakes, crab Rangoon, chicken lo mein(they use small noodles but when done right the char from the wok is on point).

Criticism : Pork fried rice is never fresh, there’s barely anything other than rice in it, never has any bean sprouts, or fresh green onions like it use to. Bring back the old pork fried rice please! 🙏 it’s just not good anymore

Karen from Chen's Garden is AMAZING. We had a company event and at the last minute had to provide food for 80 people. Many catering companies in the are said it was too much to take on at the last minute. Karen took on our huge order without fuss and was SO nice all the while. She accommodated all of our dietary restrictions and was so detail oriented- she labeled everything and was willing to clarify any questions regarding ingredients.. I called to change the time of the pickup and was so nice and understanding. We are so happy we chose Chen's Garden and ABSOLUTELY will be using them in the future. A wonderful family owned business!!! OHHH and did I mention... Karen did all of this on her day off, when the restaurant was closed. She is an amazing member of the community. RUN don't walk to Chen's Garden.

Vegetarian options: We also got Vegan options which were a crowd pleasure- the tofu and broccoli!! it was delicious- many of our meat eating members of our group were going out of their way for seconds and thirds for the tofu option it was THAT good!

Dietary restrictions: We got the chicken and vegetables for a gluten free member of the party and she was pleased with her meal- Chen's even used GF soy sauce!!!

I love Chen's Garden. It's the only place we order Chinese food and sushi. We had a creamy crab roll with plastic wrap throughout the roll. Nothing makes your meal grosser than having to pull trash out of each bite. We called and just asked to have it taken off the bill. Still no refund. But we'll probably order again. Mistakes happen. Just chew gently.
