I am writing this review to warn other patrons in the Lakes Region of The New Woodshed. Unfortunately with the new owner/management member Greg our experience has been appalling on many occasions. For example my husband and I went there in May for our anniversary. When first walking in Greg met us at the entryway abruptly asking if we had a reservation. We explained that we did not because we just wanted to sit in the bar area because it's a more warm/inviting environment. He told us we were not allowed in to the bar because we didn't have a reservation. He then asked if we were here to celebrate anything and we told him our anniversary. He then proceeded to tell us, "well must not be that special" insinuating that since we didn't make a reservation that our anniversary wasn't important. Who says that to not only a paying customer but any human being. After that night we have never stepped foot back in that place and have warned everyone since then.

We have had dinner here several times over the past year. The best analogy I can come up with is a first date when you are on your best behavior and with each date following the true personality shows and you realize you're not right for each other. This is our experience with this restaurant. I really wanted to love it and make it our go to for special nights. The atmosphere is beautiful. And generally the service is consistent. Hence my 3 stars. In my opinion, the menu is nothing spectacular. Standard choices (filet, salmon, lamb). The prices are way too high for what you get. We went with friends recently. We were told there was a "special salad" that evening. (Special Meaning not on menu, not that it was "cheaply priced"). We all ordered it as it sounded yummy. When served, we all looked at the half plate of lettuce with a few cranberries and walnuts sprinkled wondering what was so special about this. I'm not exaggerating when I say it literally was a handful of lettuce. Entrees were decent. The salads were forgotten until we got the check. Our friend started laughing and we wondered what was going on. He said how much do you think that salad was? $16.95!!!! So $68 bucks for 4 salads. Honestly if you combined our four salads together it wouldn't take up a salad plate. I've read other reviews talking about attitude. I can see it. In an attempt to project an ambience of a finer dining establishment many come across as if they are judging you. I feel that instead of relaxing or having a good time, we need to sit at the table acting very prim and proper. We moved to the Lakes region from big city living to escape the pretentious attitudes. When you are easily spending a few hundred dollars for dinner, you don't want to feel judged.

This is our favorite spot for our anniversary dinner! The service is exceptional, the steak cooked how you ask, creative twists on classic cocktails, food never disappoints. It is pricey but well worth it!Parking: Plenty of parking!

Our first time here. It didn’t disappoint. Cozy place fire was going in the fireplace. We were greater as soon as we walked in. Server. Huntington was fantastic. Apps main course desert everything was great. Definitely going back. Manager was extremely friendly. Highly recommend.

The rustic yet elegant setting can't be beat. Our food was outstanding as was the service. Can't wait to go back!

Unfortunately the meal was not up to what I consider Woodshed Standards, Prime Rib was not melt in your mouth in years past, Shrimp Cocktail was on the mushy side and my wife’s Chicken was just ok. service and Atmosphere outstanding as always, gonna say it was an off night.

Food was great, service was on point and the intimacy of the meal made it special. I would definitely return for a special occasion or date to celebrate. it is a beautiful restaurant for a very intimate and romantic dinner. Not a space for a wild bar night and shenanigans. (very much appreciated this fact!)

To our utter shock, right before dessert, Greg the general manager came to the table and kicked my family out of the restaurant, telling my husband and me that our two kids were disrupting the atmosphere for his other pub patrons.... As an Asian female with mixed race kids, I couldn't help but feel this was an episode of masked discrimination. We did not look like the kind of people whom Greg thought should be dining in his establishment. We were in the "Shed" bar area, not in the main dining room. There had been no complaints from anyone about our kids(we know because we asked while trying to understand what was happening). Our kids had been great and even our server said the kids were great. But they did not meet Greg's standards. Greg was condescending. Greg judged us for being there. Greg obviously did not see us as befitting of his clientele. When we expressed shock and confusion at the news and asked for clarification, Greg was rude and dismissive. When we said we likely would not come back, Greg snapped back, "Yes I would understand" almost relishing in the fact that we wouldn't come back.We would ask you to not support this business. This is not reflective of the community that we have come to know and love in Moultonborough. There are plenty of great fine dining spots in this area. You are not missing anything by skipping this stuffy racist establishment that Greg runs. Our heart goes out to all of his staff, who are truly amazing. If not for Greg, this would have been a regular spot for our family. It is such a shame.

Please don't support this business. For real - just don't do it. As someone who cares about our community here in the lakes region, it is clear that the management at the Woodshed does not. Here is my story but check out the reviews for more. I was just there with my family having a wonderful evening to celebrate my wife's recent promotion. As we were waiting for our dessert we were told that it was being packed up for us so that we could take it to go. Confused were we. We did not understand. We had intended to conclude our nice dinner seated in the restaurant (~$300 dinner). We truly did not process. When seeking clarification we were told there is a certain ambiance for "the pub" and we did not fit that ambiance. Our options were to take the dessert to go or just to leave. I believe the issue was that we had children with us and that my wife was wearing a sweatshirt but maybe it was that we didn't look old, white, and rich enough. We truly had a hard time processing the situation. It was awful and shame on them for treating customers/ people this way. We kindly paid for dinner but in hindsight I wish we had not. They definitely waited until we got the bill to say anything to us. It was strategic. They didn't want us to come back. Woah. Definitely have never had this happen to me before. You can go here and the food will be good and the staff will be nice but you will be supporting an establishment that is truly awful. Side note: shout-out to Toni who brought kindness and grace to a situation that made no sense. I'm honestly just so so sad. WTF. There are many great places in Moultonborough. I ask you to skip this one. Please don't dine here.

The food was top-notch. The service was even better! And I disagree with that person that said that Greg the Manager was a bully. He was very polite and straight-forward. He wants guests to have the best possible experience and expects a lot from his staff. All were wonderful btw!
