Our overall experience was less than good. It started off with a really bad attitude from the hostess. I made a reservation thru open table (obvious) and when we got there and checked in I was told there would be a wait. There were a lot of people waiting as well. I understand that even with a reservation I may have to wait a few minutes but seeing the large number of people also waiting made me nervous. I asked about how long did they expect and with a huff and a lot of attitude the hostess said “we have no idea” and turned her back and walked away. When our name was called the same hostess said nothing, no “follow me please”, no “enjoy your meal”. Just walked to a table, put the menus down and walked away- no response when I even tried a “thank you”. Our server was fine, and our meal was fine but when you are greeted poorly to start it really leaves a bad taste in your mouth. Especially given how expensive it has become to eat at Joe's. I think we'll be staying away from NYAJ's for a while.
Very good cheese sandwich and tomato basil soup for lunch. Noise level was average as I could hear other diners on both sides of me. Service was very good also
The food and service were great. The issue was the time to be served. We were seated on time but did not receive our dinner until more than an hour after being seated. We ordered no apps. Tables on either side of us received food before us despite being seated after us.
We have never been disappointed with the food at Not Your Average Joe's. Tonight's service was fast, and on a Friday to boot! In the past it has been a little slow. We enjoy the outside tables when the weather allows, tho today we were inside, too cold. Some tables are dimly lit which makes it challenging to read the menu, but our table tonight had a spotlight over it, so it was not a problem. It can be a bit noisy, but not awful. If you are young and do not mind these little challenges, you will love Joe's. We are in our early 60's, still can manage. Our one annoyance... We went this past Valentine's day as it is, also, my husband's birthday. We had a reservation. Upon arrival that night, we had to wait, just like all the reservations, for 20 minutes, for our table. Weird. But everything else turned out fine that night still highly recommend Joe's!
I loved that they did a great job with my dietary restrictions. I enjoyed my meal. My friend on the other hand mentioned that the goat cheese in her salad was salty. Still too noisy and too dark. But overall good experience Thank you
Have eaten here for lunch many times but this was our first dinner there. Food was great as was the service. Will return for more dinners in the future.
Food choices are really good. Portions are generous and prices are good. Our meals were delicious!
Thought the food could have been warmer but it was delicious. I got the jambalaya. Loaded with shrimp.
We've dined at NYAJ's before and enjoyed every meal. Unfortunately, this meal wasn't their best. My husband's haddock wasn't cooked properly and needed to be sent back twice to be cooked through. And the mashed potatoes were just awful...soupy and old. Our waitress was attentive and the atmosphere was nice but otherwise this esperience was a bit of a let down from our past dining experiences at NYAJ's.
I walked in along with my wife to have nice dinner last night and as soon as we open the door the fish smell was so bad that we walked out ?

We used to love this place, but lately. Between the fruit flies every where when you’re trying to eat, the bread being ice cold and tasting and feeling a week old, the disrespectful wait staff, and little variety when it comes to them we; we are so done.

We were here Friday 10/11 for dinner with friends. I don't know about the others in my group, but the restaurant's chicken picatta gave me a horrible case of food poisoning. I was sick all night and the next day. I thought it was a virus until I had the leftovers Sunday night and became sick all over again. Shame on NYAJ for their carelessness. Never again.

We were both excited to go because we hadn’t been in a long time and remembered it being great. It wasn’t. Bread came out very stale, could hardly pull it apart. (The flavor was there, but it was just old.) Service seemed rushed. Dirty martini was good, with great blue cheese stuffed olives—but expensive. Chicken piccata was okay, except the pasta was inedible. So mushy, turned to paste in mouth immediately. Overpowering, bitter lemon taste. The fish and chips dish was also disappointing. “All breading, not enough fish, very small portion, plain fries like from McDonald’s.” ? Overall, super disappointed.

NYAJ use to be good pre-covid, it was a family place with great good at a good price...it is way to expensive now and for what, the food quality hasn't improved, the buildings haven't improved, it's all to pay the CEO and the board while keeping wages low at the chain restaurants. Over the years NYAJ has been closing more and more locations and every time I go into one I hear a customer complaining about the food not being good or too expensive, the bathrooms look like a bomb went off. Recently I found out that the CEO Joe McGuire is a huge Biden now Harris supporter which explains a lot, won't be going back anymore and defiantly wont be ordering take out from any of their locations ever again. The service is always great but service doesn't bring people back the food quality does

Went to dinner with my husband and infant. We sat outside which was nice because it was quite busy inside. Our waitress took our drink order and when she came back she took the rest of our order. Our appetizer came out before she brought us our drinks. We couldn’t eat our food because we had no silverware or plates. When she came back with our drinks I asked for some silverware. Our food was brought out by a food runner and our waitress never came to check in on us. My husband flagged her down for another beer and by the time she brought it out we had already finished our meals. She was not personable and every time she was at our table it felt like a drive by just to drop things off. Tonight’s dinner at Not Your Average Joe’s had below average service.
