Wish it were possible to drop off handicapped customers closer to Great Island Eatery boardwalk.
I first heard of this location while looking for restaurants in the area on a bike ride recently. With such mixed reviews, I hesitated to give it try. So glad I did! Fantastic experience, all around.
I met two college roommate friends for lunch on a summer Monday. It was a perfect place for a beautiful day on the water.
Note: there is a members gate at the parking lot. Park in any designated restaurant parking spot and walk down a short distance to the restaurant. Restrooms are housed between the parking lot and restaurant.
Seating is all outside, or indoors open to air (it looked like there were plastic sides that could be rolled down for inclement weather). The server told us to sit anywhere we wanted. If you want to order alcohol there are designated areas (state regulation or some such rules).
Every seat has a great view of all the fancy boats docked in the marina. An easy way to feel like you're rich, even if you're not. :) Flower plantings were beautiful.
The strawberry lemonade was outstanding: sweet, tart, and refreshing. My friends enjoyed overflowing mai tais. The fish tacos were excellent - hot and crispy fried fish, with delicious slaw, pickled onions, and sriracha aioli.
A wonderful spot for old friends to catch up and spend a few hours on our beautiful seacoast! I will definitely return, and hopefully have more time to walk down the docks to check out all the amazing boats.

Went for lunch on 8/9/2025 Wish I remembered our server. She was polite, professional and friendly. Wore a UNH sweatshirt. Food was great and the view of The Marina was gorgeous. Will definitely return.

An excellent restaurant with outstanding water views! The food was impressive and included the best lobster roll I've had in a very long time and a shrimp cocktail that was likewise superb. The drinks were likewise good and included some of our favorite Exeter Brewing Company beers. A great staff that's friendly and efficient. A superb choice for a casual meal with a beautiful view of the water!

Extremley poor service, food was decent, price was on the high side. Waitress couldn't be bothered to bring us any requests that we made. Not even the check. I almost walked because when I finally got her attention, she ignored me.. extremely lazy. Stood over me as I calculated the tip.

Great views of the marina. Great place if you like to wait!! Waited over 5 minutes for soft drinks. .Very disorganized. Didn’t know who our waitress was. Waited over 30 minutes for our food when others who sat down after us were served and finished their meals because the waitress forgot to put our order in. Husband and I both got the fish and chips. The food was warm at best but the fries were cold and the cole slaw tasted sour. I bet this meal is really good when served hot. Gave 2 stars because they comped our meals due to the delay.

Could not get my car through security gate and park in the handicapped space, both myself and my guest do not walk well, on a hot day do not walk far, there is a new gate in both directions preventing restaurant guests from entering, signs said something about parking elsewhere for the other restaurant, nothing about handicapped parking for Great Island Restaurant. I used to bring visitors to eat at The Green Bean and there were no gates then.
Parking: No parking available, just a sign about Latitudes parking, elsewhere, the lot is not paved so difficult to walk or push a walker over, this could be illegal barring customers from the handicapped parking spaces, if not should be illegal under the ADA regulations, not good for business
Wheelchair accessibility: My guest and myself both have walkers and I have a handicapped plate on my car, we were barred from the handicapped spaces today , we were there for lunch but did not get to the restaurant, not worth getting a broken hip for.
The people there were sweet and caring
Kid-friendliness: Nice and open for kids to run around

Delicious food, great views and friendly service. They even have gluten free bread when requested. French fries are in a separate fryer, so they are also gluten free!
