Hello Hungry Guy in a Wheelchair members and today’s review is Flying Goose Brew Pub & Grille on 40 Andover Rd in New London, NH … We drove into the Flying Goose with high hopes — and the handicap parking situation started us off right. Plenty of wide, accessible spot and a smooth path right up to the entrance. Thumbs-up there. Inside, though, we hit a bump. The accessible dining room is there, but their choice of tables makes it a challenge for wheelchair diners. Luckily, our waitress came in, saw the situation for what it was, and got us seated properly. Total save. Once seated, things picked up. Our waitress was warm, apologetic about the mix-up, and stayed attentive throughout the meal — a real bright spot. The vibe inside is homey and packed with quirky antiques and collectibles, which adds charm if you like a little visual adventure with your food. Now, the food… i order the Vegetable and Herb Soup.. you could tell it was Fresh, rustic, and comforting. You could taste the garden in every spoonful — not overly salted, which let the herbs and veggies shine. A nice warm-up for a chilly NH day, as well as New England Quahog which has that classic chowder vibe, thick and briny with big chunks of clam. It was hearty and satisfying, hit the spot just right if you’re craving a taste of the coast. My friend Anna Costa-Turner got the Emalie’s Wrap – A refreshing change-up. Grilled veggies, greens, and cheese wrapped tight and toasted just enough for a little crisp. Light, fresh, and satisfying. Would’ve liked a bit more sauce inside, but it still worked. And finally my mom order the Chicken Pot Pie Empanadas – This was a fun twist on comfort food. Flaky on the outside, creamy and savory inside. Think handheld pot pie with a little crunch. Tasty, though could’ve used a touch more seasoning for a bigger flavor pop. My mom also ordered the Vegetarian Chili – Rich, smoky, and packed with beans and veggies. No meat? No problem. This one held its own. Good spice level — warm, not overwhelming — and perfect for the cooler season. Tempting dessert menu, but we all passed. Maybe next time. Access into the restaurant is solid, but table accessibility needs work. Hosts should be trained to accommodate and listen — especially when a diner knows what works for them. Staff attentiveness helped recover the experience but Worth a stop, especially if you like a funky atmosphere, but go in ready to advocate for your seating needs. Overall, The Flying Goose for me gets a 6.6/10

Foods fine, eaten here before. However I called at 8:40 for an order to go when they close at 9 and was told no go they stop at 8:30. Waisted my time and window to get food anywhere else in the area. What’s the point in saying you close at 9 when reality it’s 8:30. Thanks.

They were super fast with the food and drinks for 13 people. You could ask for better service.

Service was a little slow. Meaning the kitchen must have been short handed or something, because the dinning room was not really that busy. It took our waitress longer than normal to get to us. I'm thinking they were short handed on the waitress staff.

Been here before and had a great experience but this time was different. Waited 10 minutes to be greeted and then another 40 minutes for our lunch. Food seemed like it was sitting for a bit before being served.

The view while dining outside is beautiful.

Sorry to say it, but while the food was truly terrific, the service was efficient but cool and unwelcoming. This was on a Tuesday evening - not especially busy. Dunno, maybe only regulars are shown warmth? I was glad to leave and doubt I'll return soon. I'm local so I'm sad this was my experience. Odd, given that this place advertises on local radio as a fun and friendly spot. 🤔
