I went to PC’s to try out the new happy hour. A friend from work recommended it. The service was great. The drinks were poured in an amazing way. I think this is the best place in the area. Come on by if you want good food, drinks and service. It’s a super chill place and great bar atmosphere. The bartenders, servers, managers, everyone totally gets it. Be careful because the volume gets high because it’s the best place in the white mountains.

Great place! I waited 30 minutes for a waiter and it took another 30 minutes to order. Instead of a tablespoon for my soup, I was given a teaspoon and it took about 10 minutes to change it. Value your time and service. This is not the place for you. The food is delicious but the service is terrible.

I’ve learned to hold my tongue (pun intended) for most places in the upper valley. That was until I came to Peter Christian. Upon entering, I was excited! The beautiful exposed wood, coffered windows and golden glow of the bar hinted a elevated but cozy rustic experience rarely found. The glow quickly faded when I arrived at my table. The lighting was harsh and jarring, the layout was confusing and strangely liminal, and the food. I don’t think I saw more than a handful of cheese on a literal Mac and cheese. While the drinks and servers were a saving grace, I can confidently say I will not be recommending PC beyond a walk through. (2.5/5)

Let me start by saying our waitress was very sweet and helpful! Service all around was quick and considerate. However…. the food was honestly shockingly mediocre, especially considering the prices and “fancy” styling of the restaurant. I got a veggie burger (“protein burger” in menu description, was unclear if was Beyond/Impossible or veggie) that was a from-frozen tasteless veggie burger with sad lettuce and tomato and no mustard as advertised. Cold, dry bun and a handful of OK fries were no where near worth the $20 price tag (+$1 for cheese). Atmosphere was also pretty abysmal. Seems to want to be a more upscale pub-style spot and the items on the menu like lobster (+$14 upcharge if you want to add to pasta or salad) reflect that desire, but bad food, cheap looking decorations, and aggressively bright lighting make it feel more like a Cracker barrel. I’d be fine with that if it cost me cracker barrel prices, but I ended up paying nearly $72 for two veggie burgers and ice cream.

The food here is fantastic. We went on Labor Day on our way home from Vermont. We said we’d be back in a few months, and ended up going back a week later.

The buffalo wings and soup got us back here quickly. The wings are a solid 9.5/10. Just the right amount of crisp, and the buffalo sauce is hitting on all cylinders.

The soups hit the spot too. I got the onion soup and my wife got the beef stew. I actually liked the beef stew more, but got the onion soup both times. Is it the best I’ve had? No. But it’s good. A bit too much bread and amazingly needs a little bit of salt. Most restaurants hammer the sodium, but this is not the case here at ole Pete’s. But the cheese on top and the overall flavor is good 8/10.

We got a Caesar salad our first visit and that was really good. 9/10. And finally we got a Reuben, which was good. I’ve had better Reuben’s but it was good 7/10. The fries were crispy little boo things and 10/10.

The servers were all super friendly and did a great job both visits. We’ll be back many times, add this place to our regular rotation.

I used to work at PC's, 46 years ago (started my restaurant career there actually), and was hoping to recapture a few happy memories with lunch today. It's been 15 or so years since we were last there... and today was a disappointment.

While the sandwiches and service were good (nothing special about the service really, other than warm smiles that made up for waiting a long time for a simple order), almost all vestiges of the once charming restaurant were gone. Out with the crockery, and in with the long skinny rectangular plate.

Most of the deep wooden booths were there, but the menu has been stripped of former Peter Christian's whimsy (and some of its classics)--now it's just common type design and unexpectedly and painfully high prices.

That part hurt the worst, in that PC's used to be an affordable place to gather with family or friends, share a huge bread & cheese board and some beer, and tuck into super-sized salads or soups or sandwiches. The prices then were the right balance against food (and other operating) costs and affordability, so that you left the restaurant feeling like you got a very good value for the money.

It's not about 70's or 80's, etc. costs/standard of living being so different vs. 2024's--today, charging $10 for a glass of wine, and $19 for a sandwich and fries, is indefensible. Your costs are nowhere near those prices, and being short-staffed does the opposite of helping any "special occasion" vibe cover for the price. To top it all off, there's a 3% surcharge for credit card use! Taking plastic has always been a cost of doing business in the restaurant business--so removing that from the restaurant's side of the value equation makes the value-for-money dry up even more.

We won't be back.

Rude and not welcoming at all! Tried to eat there. Walked in and stood patiently waiting for hostess. 4 girls all walked passed us and stood at the hostess station never acknowledging us or saying they would be right with us. After being ignored for 5 minutes we finally walked out and won't be back. Awful customer service!!!

Terrible experience- was seated quickly but it took waitress almost 30 mins to come to our table. The other waitresses ignored us and would not make eye contact. She never came back to table after food was delivered and we had to go up to front to ask to pay our bill.

This place has such good mustard dip that when I was a kid, I used to just refer to it as “the restaurant with the really good mustard dip”! My family and I don’t live in the area, so unfortunately we don’t get to go here very often, but when we do, we always make sure to buy at least one jar of mustard dip to bring home!
