We go back every weekend just for their bagels and cream cheese. We live just north of Boston and make the trip every Saturday morning for these little circles of heaven smeared with delicious Vermont cream cheese!!!

Best bagels in town with a wide variety of fresh bagels, NY style. Only bagel shop open on Monday's that sell by the dozen at very reasonable prices. Staff was friendly and professional and the place looked very clean and well kept. Did I mention they sell be the dozen? A bakers dozen at that!

Terrific sandwiches! We had a Dagwood and a Farmer's Cheese an Veggies and thoroughly enjoyed them. Exceptional bread, very large sandwiches, pleasant outside option for seating. Well worth a stop!

I always try to stop in when I see a Works Cafe as their ancient grain bowl with smoked salmon is so good! Even if you take it to eat later, it's honestly just as tasty. Very filling dish. I wish they had more whole wheat bread options as I always enjoy their food. Service was very friendly even though it was close to closing time which I appreciated. Great location in downtown Portsmouth. Kind of obsessed with their ancient grain bowl so I'll definitely stop in again!

An amazing lunch. Enjoyed so much went twice in one stay in town. Hubby loved the BLT, had both visits. I had the (panini style both) fresh mozzarella sandwich and the artichoke sandwich. Both so good on sourdough bread. Highly recommend.

Visited this spot on my drive from Boston to Portland, ME and I was very impressed!! I wish I had time to stop again on the way back. The service is quick and the bagel is one of the best I've had!!

Vacationing in New Hampshire (Portsmouth). Downtown Portsmouth is awesome with many eating and shopping businesses (all entrepreneurs). 'The Works' was by far my favorite dining mostly due to their healthy dishes as well as healthy smoothies. The organic bowl 'Chicken Pesto' was truly one of the tastiest, freshest bowls i have eaten. Highly recommend and prices are in-line with competition.

Fresh salads and a smoothie bar! Oh yah and espressos. It's really all you need for lunch. It give it 5 stars, but the chalk board Sidney says come on in and warm up, but ate my bistro salad with my jacket on.

Happy Sunday Adventurers! I stopped by here as I traveled down the coast back home. So glad I got to take a ride through the quaint town of Portsmouth. I felt like a Gilmore girl (yes I know it did not take place anywhere near here). This place had the easiest parking to find compared to the others shops I perused. When you walk into this place you are greeted by so many delicious flavors! I couldn't tell you how hard it was to not grab lunch, but I had a deadline to be home. However, the entire menu looked appetizing. There was ample seating even on a busier day and plenty of staff members to take your order. I ended up just getting a latte with almond milk and caramel. I definitely need to come back to this town so I can check out other stores and walk around. Hopefully when its summer or even late fall.

I had a bad dinner elsewhere so when family and I were walking around town I was so shaky hungry and we walked past The Works and it smelled amazing and I was reading the menu posted outside when others were walking in and they were all like "its so good definitely eat here!" So I went in and ordered the turkey bacon Chipotle and got it as a panini. Wow! It was huge. It was SO good too! I'd love one right now thinking about it LOL I would just get the chipolte mayo on the side and then use just a tiny bit - it is quite spicy to me but so good.

The Works is a popular chain for breakfast & lunch. You order at the counter, pick up & sit inside or out. They have a nice variety of selections - everything we tried was good. It can get busy - even on weekdays - so there may be a line. We went twice - for lunch & breakfast- both good experiences.

What a yummy breakfast! Not too heavy, just right! I had the egg and cheese with the works toast and my husband had chicken panini. Both were spot on!!!!

The atmosphere is fantastic for the downtown area. Amazing feeling to it. The bagels were SO fresh, tasty, and done amazingly. We had the salmon without cream cheese and no Tomato, scooped and tasted. And it was so very good. I would definitely come back here and have that again. We also had super cinnamon bagel with maple raisin walnut cream cheese. That checked all the good and great and fresh boxes there are.
