Helpful and kind customer service
I have been a BJ's member for years. When I saw they offered a Same Day delivery service I paid for the additional fee to obtain that service. They advertise this service as guaranteed same day delivery. In my experience, that is not the case. Since signing up for this service I have attempted to place a same day delivery order at least 5 or 6 times. I have only been successful in getting a same day delivery one of those times. I chose that additional service option because I am disabled and walking through the store is not really an option for me. It's incredibly disappointing that the BJ's in Portsmouth, NH has contracted with Roadie, a delivery vendor, that seems to cancel customer orders without providing valid cause for the cancelation. They also did this after a prior authorization hold was placed on my account. The hold is also for significantly more than the order total. They should not be placing holds on customer accounts until they know rhat the order can be fulfilled and delivered. Now I am told that the hold on the funds will be released in 5-7 business days. So BJ's is holding funds on customer accounts for orders they can not/will not fulfill. It seems that BJ's has an issue with this particular vendor they have contracted with and it is effecting the level of customer service they provide to their customers in a negative way. They should stick with using more reputable vendors, such as Insta Cart or Door Dash. I canceled my same day delivery membership and am considering canceling my BJ's membership altogether since they can't seem to provide the membership services they advertise.
Great selection and prices. Easy to join online and pick your card up in the store. People are friendly and work to help new customers understand how to leverage your membership.
Can’t beat those prices!
Buying in bulk is starting to pay off
Can usually find what we're looking for (and then some!) Got the 3 pound rotisserie chicken this visit - OMG it's so delicious. Can't wait to get back down there and get another one!
Usual whole club store experience with the exception of something has gone bad and the seafood section and was making half the door smell like rotten seafood
they fr got nasty watermelons
I've been a BJs customer for over 10 years now, for the last few years with a premium membership. I used to like the wide variety of organic and healthy products they used to carry. Lately, it's been going down the hill and I wonder more and more if I should stop the membership. Not sure if it's related to maximizing profit for investors since it became a public company. Lots of organic frozen veggies are not carried anymore, and the fresh produce at this Portsmouth location is just deplorable. I complained more than once about their over-expired watermelons and honeydews, with no success. Last visit triggered this review: when I tried the freshness of a watermelon and my finger just went through the bloated skin into a bath of stinky juice inside. About five days beforehand we went to get a melon and they were all soft and expired, and complained about it. They just left the same decomposing watermelons on the shelf. Unbelievable!
Update as of 06/2023: What is worst than finding a green worm in your salad? Finding half of it, I guess. Good thing it's triple washed!!! I have been buying the organic Spring Mix salad for many years from BJs, and I will stop today.
We travel about an hour to get to this place, and it's always worth it! Comparable to Costco in almost all areas (Costco has a better butcher selection with in-house butchery), but BJs is better for smaller family sizes!
Great place.

I think you need to invest some funds in updating your gas pumps. You have had one set that's been down for a month and when I got gas 4/1. pump 12, it was pumping so slow it took for times the normal to fill up.
BJ's has the best prices for buying in bulk. They have everything we need and some awesome unique choices of items we love to try out. Sales and coupons save us a lot of money and we always get their much lower priced gas on our way out, of course.
This is an older warehouse store and it feels like it.
It’s located on a very busy strip mall area just outside of downtown Portsmouth which is down the street a few miles away.
Decent & relatively affordable prices but nothing special.
Wellesley Farms & Jensen Clothing are BJs private label brand.
Selection is decent, prices relatively affordable and are somewhat different than those found in Costco.
Better quality foods, better selection of items are found at Costcos but the only one in NH is in Nashua.
Sadly, the place is rarely ever packed with people, regardless of the time I'm here, afternoon/night, weekday/weekend.
There is a gas station on the right side when you enter down the street into BJs and the prices are reasonable for regular or premium gas types as there is no mid-grade gas, similar to Costco gas stations. Missing is an air pump for tires.
Gas prices are slightly higher than at the newer Seabrook location.
The lower gas prices & rotisserie chicken makes up the membership fee, which is discounted online so you don’t have to pay full price.
Great BJs love their curbside pickup and mobile app. Gas station also convenient with good prices for members.
Weird entrance, no cafe. Friendly staff well stocked and clean
