The food is excellent but their wait policy sucks. There is always a 30 minute wait no matter what and you can't call ahead. You have to show up and stand outside for 30+ minutes even in the rain because they don't have a space inside for people to wait. They really need to let people put their names in over the phone.

What a delightful breakfast experience! Jeremy was the master of ceremonies. He greeted us with a smile and quick wit that could've powered the entire restaurant. A place that understands that bathrooms do not need labels! A man who now knows his right from his left by the tattoo on each hand! But hold on to your syrup bottles, the real star of the show was Taylor, the warm and friendly waitress who swooped in to continue the breakfast symphony. As for the food, let's just say that my taste buds were glad that we landed there. I am not a home fries person but could not pass them up.Would I go again? Absolutely! They even gave us a shared plate so all could enjoy each other's selection as no one could decide on French toast versus an omelet or pancake!. So, if you're looking for a place where quick wit meets warm smiles, where food is more than just sustenance – it's a culinary adventure Bon appétit and filled belly, smiles guaranteed! ???

Any trip to Portsmouth should include a stop at Colby's. Have the cinnamon french toast, have coffee, and enjoy the ambiance. We have a traditional brunch at Colby's each time we visit Portsmouth. If you have to wait for a table, remember that it is SO worth the wait!

Food was great, service was good even though they were super busy! Cute lil place with both indoor and outdoor tables.

Very hearty and tasty breakfast. Not a fancy place. It’s a small, but has a decent amount of seating both inside and out. We sat inside. It is not air conditioning, but didn’t feel overly warm. It’s a popular place and we did wait about half hour to get seated. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. The food was delicious and very generous portions. I got an omelette with a side of sausage and my husband had the Eggs Irish. We enjoyed both very much. We would definitely return.

Cute little breakfast spot downtown. Reuben Omelette was yummy & filling! Sourdough bread came buttered & fresh, home fries were nicely seasoned & the dressing brought it all together! Thanks guys!

This is a must go to!!! The French toast was incredible, even better knowing it's homemade bread!!! Cute little place that always has a wait on the weekends!!! Never a bad meal and the waitstaff has always been amazing!

Delicious!!! I had the Eggs Irish, and my wife had the Downeast special with pancakes, and the pancakes were amazing! We will definitely be back!

Unfortunately, my 2 eggs over medium, with sausage, was much too salty. My partner loved her Irish Benedict (see pic). The service was pleasant and un-rushed. The location and atmosphere is quintessential Portsmouth and hard to beat among the cozy breakfast nooks downtown.

Have been to Colby’s a few times before and every time we visit Portsmouth we come back for more! Simply an outstanding breakfast experience and well worth the wait even if there is a queue! Great staff and venue and the creativity for the breakfast specials is unparalleled in any other breakfast venue I have been to along the East Coast !

I concur with the other reviews, this is one of the best brunch places I have been to. Had the Irish Benedict, huevos rancheros and French toast. Everything was really good, and the restaurant was very cosy.
