Tiny bake shop with a few small tables. Staff very friendly. The coffee and scones were very good. Highly recommend.

We’ve been coming here for 3 years now for the croissants and eggs cilbir. We recently discovered their espresso martinis and they are easily the best in town!

Authentic French bakery two blocks from Airbnb. Only complaint was line out the door but can't control that.

If I were sent off to fight in the trenches of the European theatre I would carry a locket around my neck. One side would hold a photo of my beloved partner, the other? A picture of an Elephantine vanilla scone made my Logan.

Beautiful breakfast, with some high quality pastries and breakfast dishes made to order with a middle eastern influence.
Nice atmosphere.
The baguette looked impressive (as a french guy who likes his baguettes)

Elephantine is an incredible, intimate eatery in downtown Portsmouth NH nestled in a hidden walkable alleyway. There was a bit of a line out the door but the line moved quickly. Scone, chocolate almond croissant, and chocolate chip cookie were delicious. Coffee was good but options were limited. Definitely more of a bakery than a coffee shop. Very limited seating.

This place is a gem! Superb specialty coffee and craft espresso, as well as perfection in pastry form.

Today, the place was slammed, yet staff was calm and friendly, and the barista was top notch. It’s not an easy thing to keep running at such a high level of quality, but this place makes it look easy.

Really cute little spot. Employees were extremely kind and welcoming. Got one of their pastries and it was very good. Their coffee was gross.

I didn’t really like the coffee because my cappuccino tasted more like milk than coffee. It wasn’t bad, but it could’ve been better

The sandwich I ordered was wonderful, and to be honest, it was the only thing we actually liked
My husband ordered the poached egg and it was overcooked.
We also ordered a ham and cheese croissant that came out cold
My husband asked to have it warmed up but they said they couldn’t because we had already touched it and that it’s an NH law so we understood and the woman kindly gave us another warm croissant, which we appreciated

It’s not a place I’d recommend for a relaxed breakfast or to hang out with friends because it’s very small

This place perfect, best whole milk latte I’ve ever had, best bread I’ve ever had, best croissants, literally the best everything
I’ve worked at and traveled to cafes and bakeries in America, Italy, France and Spain and this is the best, they are doing everything right
Passionate and professional
All the tools and equipment is perfect to maintained, the ingredients are fresh and carefully sourced, they genuinely put care into every detail
The latte I got came with a lid but the barista still put a beautiful leaf into the perfectly velvety microfoam, even if she expected me not to see her art she still did it, true sign of a professional and someone doing something with care and love, I will easily drive the two hours it took me to come back here, literally a hidden jewel

This bakery produces outstanding baked goods that are not easy to make nor does anything close to this location compare to the deliciousness of their goodies.

Used to be better . The Cinnamon rolls were very obviously overcooked, burnt on the tops not just a little bit. This isn’t the first time. 2 times in a row Months apart (June & today, Oct 25th). The once great cinnamon roll is bitter with the burnt top to the point the icing can’t cover it up. We tried to eat around it with one of the 4 but it’s not easy to just eat the bottom. Do better, especially when it should be super obvious to the baker they are overcooked.
