Definitely Old Portsmouth tradition of great fresh lobster, fresh chowder, and fresh desserts made daily. The Lobster Roll was definitely a 5. The Root Beer was great. Open Air seating right by the water. We couldn't leave without a whoopie pie and a brownie to go. Francesca and her family do an oustanding job.

Great service. Loved the root beer, clam chowder, burger and lobster roll. Parking is tight but available and worth the trip every time! Enjoyed that the patio seating is covered!

Geno’s Chowder & Sandwich Shop was exactly what we were hoping to find while exploring the New Hampshire coastline. This small, family-run spot is tucked into a charming historic neighborhood and delivers on every front. The service was fast and friendly, and the food was classic New England seafood fare done right. Parking can be a little tight, but it’s absolutely worth it. Highly recommended!

Geno's hits the culinary grand slam folks. Ambience check! Service check! Food check! The lobster in the lobster roll must be off the dock 10 mins before it hit the pot. I am not usually a thin chowder guy but the lobster chowder here is ridiculously good. The restaurant is on the water. The wait staff is on point. A must stop in Portsmouth NH.

Ordered medium fish chowder to go..Bad idea. Watery milk broth was absolutely tasteless. Only tiny diced potatoes and one 1/2 inch piece of whitefish. NOT A CHOWDERHOUSE BY ANY STANDARD. High point was the oyster crackers and waterside view. Parking is limited and difficult.

Nice place along the waterfront, the food is superb as it is crazy fresh. I did not find lobster rolls taste this good in Acadia in Maine. Worth a visit. The soups are great too. Do not miss the blueberry pie here, it is really awesome. The place is popular so 20 min wait for a table is very likely. The staff is friendly and service is quick. No complaints!

It's a must go and go hungry. Food was excellent, definitely my favorite chowder in Portsmouth. Only complaint is they have the nerve to close shop one day a week!

We stopped here for a quick lunch and sat out back on their patio/dock. Actually we’re able to get right in on a lunch on Saturday. Our waitress (Pia) was very attentive and friendly. Their prices are marked daily for the chowders and lobster rolls. So you know it’s fresh! I got the house special which is a regular lobster roll with a cup of chowder and chips. They give you the option of butter, mayo or both for the roll. It’s all on the side so you can load however much you want on it. So fresh and tasty! The chowder is a completely different style. Not as creamy as “normal” New England clam chowder. But it has a great flavor. You should definitely try it but just know going in that it is a different style. My wife ordered just a medium chowder and was very happy with her choice. To end the meal we shared a slice of warm blueberry pie a la mode. It’s funny that after a week vacation in Maine and ending in NH this was the best piece of pie on the trip.
Overall, a great experience with a good atmosphere and good prices. Food is fresh and tasty. Staff is friendly and attentive. If you are in Portsmouth for a day or two this is a must stop.
