Gilley's Diner is a Portsmouth staple. Although best known as the go-to when the bars close, you are denying yourself a culinary delight if you don't come by sober the next day. Although the fare is simple (just burgers, dogs, and their necessary accompaniments) they are done to perfection and cooked to order by the hardest working man in show business.
Always delicious burgers!
Items where a little on the high side, chili had too many beans and was probably from a can...
First time at this little diner, I will be back next time I'm in the area! The food was great and came out quick!
Very nostalgic spot, I still love the affordable food. Their cheeseburgers are very tasty!
Still the best burger in town after the sale, glad nothing has changed.
Been coming here for 12 years. This place is an absolute must!
Gilley’s Diner in Portsmouth, NH, is a hidden gem for anyone looking for classic diner food in a charming, nostalgic setting. My wife and I stopped by for a quick bite and were impressed by the experience. She ordered a hot dog with fries, and I opted for a double cheeseburger with fries. Both were served within 5 minutes, hot, fresh, and full of flavor. Despite the small menu, the food is top-notch for diner fare, and the friendly service adds to the experience. The diner itself is small and quaint, with only six seats, but the charm of this old food truck-turned-diner more than makes up for it. The service was fantastic—there's only one person running the place, and she handled everything seamlessly. If I lived in the area, I'd be here at least once a month. Highly recommend for anyone craving a quick, delicious meal in a cozy, old-school diner atmosphere.

Came it at 9 at night and was quickly taken care of. I was warned to know want you want and except a rough exterior from the ower. But she was wonderful and I loved a little sass. To make it even better, I got the ham and cheese w gravy fries, came to about 11 bucks total, and was some of the best diner food I've ever had. Strongly suggest you go out of your way to check this place out if your in the area.

Incredible historic burger joint. Also a classic for hot dogs, but IMO the burger (double cheeseburger with everything in my case) is the thing to get! Absolutely worth the stop even if you’re passing through town. Bit of a wait on the Thursday afternoon we went, but considering there was only one member of staff in there, it was impressive being able to juggle taking orders, cook, and serving as well.

I was told if I didn’t tip my food wasn’t going to be cooked and was told to leave multiple times before closing time.

Wonderful food and nice location! I got fries and a grilled cheese sandwich; while the fries were pretty good, the sandwich was incredible. Unfortunately they only have Pepsi?

We discovered this amazing place on a whim as we were out exploring the area. Don’t let the simple menu fool you, this place is an absolute gem! The lady working was so nice and very hardworking. The cheeseburgers and fries are delicious. The grilled ham and cheese, poutine and brownie are out of this world!!
