It’s unfortunate when white rice is the best part of a Chinese meal. Spring roll was squishy and tasteless. Kung Pao chicken was drowning. I won’t be back.

We may have found our new go-to Chinese restaurant. Kim Lai exceeded our expectations - the food quality is excellent, & service is friendly. After reading through reviews, I wasn't expecting much, but we left happy and full. The dining room is simple and has a bunch of booths with comfy seating. We ordered a selection of appetizers, drinks, and main entrees - all came out hot, and the portions were huge. The fat egg rolls and saucy pork lo mein were the standouts. We'll be back anytime we are craving Chinese food.

Horrible would not recommend this place to anyone looking for a bite. Called asking about a menu option, guy got frustrated with obvious language barrier and asked rudely if i was ordering or just asking him questions. Then proceeded to call me ignorant and a bad customer ?.
As NH natives who lived & worked in Shanghai China we were pleased to find Kim Lai on our return. Freshness is paramount for restaurants in China and we found that to be true at Kim Lai—their spring rolls are home made & delicious—their steamed chicken & pea pods are outstanding as is their chicken Mai foon, dragon & phoenix, & sesame chicken. Service is superior and with a smile. Take out is excellent but you should also try dining in—martinis are huge & perfectly made

I LOVE THE FOOD!! Best Chinese food around Portsmouth!! I mean its has it potential to be a jade three.. but if that lady that takes all the delivery orders should be idk maybe ACTUALLY NICE ON the phone!!? Like shes always yelling for you to hurry up with your order and when if you were to get an item sized wrong SHE FREAKS OUT. Like never have i ever hear a more entitled person in my life. Especially on the phone.

Kim Lai is our favorite Chinese restaurant. We have been going there, often with friends, about once a week for years and just love the place. The food is delicious and the portions are very generous. The staff is great and we have such a good time with them. We utilize their take-out service for large family gatherings during the holidays. We strongly recommend Kim Lai and in fact will be going again tonight. The boneless spareribs and hot and sour soup are Daane's favorite appetizers, followed up by exploring the many different dishes on the menu. We think you will enjoy Kim Lai!
