The regions best classic dinning from welcome greeting, service, menu, beverages, ambiance. This is our favorite restaurant. Never once have we been disappointed. Much of Massimo's is the attention of the owner, the restaurant bares his name. Massimo is there every evening greeting, walking through, making sure his Guests are happy and satisfied.
The venue, the food, the service, and the overall experience was extraordinary from the moment we arrived. If you are looking for a wonderful night out, make this your first stop. You won't be disappointed.
My husband and I loved just about everything about this place. Our waitress was smiling and welcoming and very attentive. The ambiance in this place is beyond compare. We felt so relaxed and the food was pretty much to die for with the exception of dessert. We probably just ordered the wrong thing. We ordered the box of desserts. I ordered the duck and my husband the filet mignon; both of which were cooked perfectly and oh so flavorful. Highly recomend!
Our first time visiting the area and have to say this is an absolute 5 star restaurant. Wait staff courteous and professional. Food and atmosphere was perfect. The owner is present and welcoming to all. Thank you for a wonderful dining experience. ~Elizabeth F.
Had a great time for our 3 year anniversary, staff was super welcoming and open to chat. Everyone was dressed in what you would expect classic Italian cuisine to have, slightly up-scale feeling. The food was fantastic, and everyone made sure to detail any other directions needed before consuming or any question we had in regards to a wine pairing, or an entree selection. Adrian was amazing, and treated us super well; Her and the rest of the staff was great, everyone made our day just a bit more special with our first time dining here. Thanks y'all!
Always the BEST dining experience! We go every year during our vacation to the area and it never disappoints. Just GO!
Absolutely wonderful in every way...food, service, cocktails, atmosphere! Our charming waiter, Kyle, even shook our hands and thanked us for dining with them when we were leaving! A truly wonderful place to celebrate a special occasion.
We had a wonderful evening with friends dining here last Saturday. Our server (Anthony) was excellent and very engaging!! The food was delicious and we were delighted with our wine choices. Everything exceeded our expectations. We'll definitely be back!!
Fantastic dinner! Service was first class. Best restaurant in Portsmouth if not New Hampshire. Can't wait to visit again. Massimo (owner) visits every table to insure food and service exceeds customers' expectations.
Our first time at Ristorante Massimo and it was a truly wonderful experience! Will definitely plan a return visit in the future!

Excellent food, service, ambiance......parking is difficult in the area. Nice romantic venue.
Thank you for accommodating us with our two kids. It was some of the best food we've ever had. Halibut was phenomenal and the ragu!
Literally some of the best Italian food we have ever had! Everything from the service to the food was excellent!! We are already planning a trip back to Portsmouth just so we can eat here again!
Anthony is amazing, as usual. Great service. Most of the food was amazing, as usual. A little disappointed in the dover sole. I guess we had wrong expectations about preparation, thinking it was a sauted filet
Ristorante Massimo came highly recommended, however, outside of the wonderful service from our waitress we found the experience underwhelming. We had the halibut, which was very salty and the pasta and clams, which was under seasoned. We also had bugs (gnats and a moth bouncing off our food) around our table (we were inside) which when we notified the manager, she was defensive that it was the “season” and a “historic building,” neither of which are an apology. We then felt that we were rushed out of the restaurant. Overall a not pleasant experience.
