This is by far the best Indian dining within an hour. The staff is all very polite and friendly. A few years ago they completely renovated during covid and its a nice atmosphere. My wife and I never dine in for Indian anywhere else in New Hampshire.Vegetarian options: It’s Indian, vegetarians and omnivores alike are very happy here.Parking: Parking isn’t expensive. Street or garage right here.
Make sure to check your takeout order before leaving the restaurant! The food here is very good, but lately there have been a few times when there has been missing food from my takeout orders - raita missing from the biryani, missing extra order of tamarind chutney, etc. It's nothing big but it does show a level of carelessness that I hope is corrected soon.

Shalimar was very inviting and we were warmly shown to a corner booth. Exotic ceiling fixtures and subdued lighting. Shared an order of Nan and Veg. Pakoras w a plum dipping sauce that was super. Mulligatawny soup was something new for me and highly recommended. My Seafood Marsala(medium heat) atop Basmati rice was exceptional. So many flavors from the spices, whole shrimp, scallops and lobster chunks. The lamb dish was enjoyed as was the chicken. Again, the sauces reign. Public pay parking is right next door.
Visiting from the UK, and without a doubt the best curry this side of the Atlantic. Rich, flavorful curry and tandoor, with just the right amount of heat.

The good here is 5*, as is the service. Great little gem in Portsmouth. The food is Fantastic. Can’t wait to return. We got takeout last Sunday and it was just as good. I love it when a restaurant keeps the same standards for take out as it does for dine in.
Was looking for some indian food in Portsmouth and Durban was closed so went here. Either I ordered poorly or the food is bland or both. The ambiance is nice. They have tons of indoor tables and the service was polite and attentive. We ordered the chicken soup, the non vegetarian appetizer and the vegetarian appetizer. The chicken soup was really good. The broth was flavorful and spicy. There were big chunks of chicken and veggies in it. Unfortunately the other two appetizers were not very tasty. Nearly everything was fried and very bland. The only exception was the lamb- that was tasty though not quite hot enough.
