The Oar House Delight is AMAZING!
An underrated find in Portsmouth! The lobster ravioli was the best meal I had the whole trip.

$$$$ ribeye was undercooked and their house sauce was SUB par. Don’t ask for any other kind of sauce because they can’t make it, and will recommend A1.
My wife asked for her filet medium and it was cold in the middle. Halfway decent place to go for apps, but I would go somewhere else for your dinner.

The restaurant had a very local vintage vibe to it. They had a good selection of cocktails and wines. The food was appetizing. Service was good. They had a wide variety of fish entrees and the fish was very fresh.

First time trying the Oar House. We had 7:00 reservations this past Saturday for our anniversary. Seated promptly upstairs. Unfortunately we never stayed for dinner because the service was terrible. It took a full 15 minutes to be acknowledged. She came to pour waters and said she'd be right back, mentioned they just got slammed. I noticed 2 Large parties. She came back maybe 5 minutes after and we put in our order for drinks and 1 cecear salad and 1 French onion soup. Our food arrived before our drinks. We waited and waited for her to come back and get a second round of drinks .We were able to look over at the bar downstairs to see our drinks just sitting there for another 15 minutes. The coconut shrimp came out again before the drinks .Another server came and brought to us. This was the point where we decided to leave. Very unfortunate as we were looking forward to having dinner. We won't be back.

What did my daughter want for lunch? Macaroni and Cheese 😋! Where did we just visit? Portsmouth Harbor Cruises! Who had an outdoor deck along the Piscataqua River literally next door? The Oar House 🏠! Did the Oar House have an associate out front who answered my question about the kid's menu? Yes 🙂↕️!
We were 🪑 seated right ▶️ away. I ordered Haddock 🐟 Piccata with unsweetened iced tea with lemon 🍋. Delicious 😋! My daughter devoured her Macaroni and Cheese and asked for more. I tried a few of her Cavatelli mac and cheese and I could see 🙈 why she liked it.
Great service! Nice view of the Piscataqua River, once the boat from next door 🚪 left.
Pricey? Yep! But it is downtown and waterfront Portsmouth and we are dealing with inflation.
The only issue was the WiFi did not work where we were. But we are a distance away from the indoor restaurant and we were warned it would probably not work.
I am going to recommend a visit especially if you can get a seat 🪑 on the outdoor deck. A bar 🍻 is available there as well.

Service was prompt and friendly. Our cocktails were served in amazing metal mule cups. Great view of the harbor and tug boats. Scallops and haddock were great. The fish taco insides were good but the basic hard corn shell lacked. Truffle fries were overly salty and I like salt! Overall recommend The Oar House.

What an incredible dinner we had last weekend at the Oar House. The food was amazing I had the ribeye and my wife has lobster absolutely delicious. The staff was extremely friendly. Inside the restaurant is beautiful and historic and the outdoor deck area is amazing on a nice day. Could not recommend more

This place is amazing! Really cool waterfront atmosphere out in the deck. Great drinks and the lobster roll was the best I’ve had. Definitely a must go when in Portsmouth.

Sadly, the atmosphere is very nice with a great view of the water but the food was below average at best. Fish tacos were in a weird shell that was in between soft and hard and was completely saturated in grease. The sweet potato fries were so soggy I couldn’t finish them. Got mashed potatoes on the side with one of our dishes and they didn’t taste bad but were such an odd consistency that was soupy yet lumpy at the same time. Won’t be back.
